The following two updates from requests of the past few months are provided for your continued prayer support and thanksgiving.
David Wine
You will recall the prayer request from the November 2nd Support Network Ministry email highlighting the significant head injuries twenty year old David Wine sustained as the result of a four-wheeler accident in Bridgewater, Virginia. A church representative reported that nothing short of a miracle has taken place. The family was first told that David would most likely remain in a vegetative state permanently. Today, David is at home - walking, talking, running the sound system at his home church (Emmanuel Church of the Brethren, VA) - and is anxious to get back to work. He does have to wear a helmet for a while since a portion of his skull was removed and there are moments he has trouble remembering certain things, but the prognosis is for a full recovery. David's Father, Roscoe, mentioned the Support Network as one component in the thousands of people praying for David and he gave credit to these prayers (and of course ultimately to God) for David's miraculous recovery. We give special thanks for the restored health of David. What a wonderful gift for Christmas.
Selena Halterman
In our November 12th Support Network Ministry email, we requested prayer for twenty-four year old Selena Halterman who was facing potentially life threatening surgery to remove a tumor from under her brain. Her surgery on November 19th went well. She did have to undergo a second surgery within a week to relieve some build up of fluid on the brain. Selena is able to move her hands and feet, eliminating the danger of paralysis. Her sight is intact and she can speak. Unfortunately, the surgeons were unable to remove all of the cancerous tumor and she has lost her sense of smell. Selena is now at home, remains in good spirits, and is trusting her future to God. We thank you for your prayers on her behalf.
Good News
"The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." (Excerpts from Isaiah 40: 28-31)
"Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased." (Luke 2:14)
