MARLBORO LIBRARY TO SERVE AS DROP-OFF POINT FOR
"PRESENTS FOR PATIENTS" PROGRAM

Marlboro, NY - The Marlboro Free Library is pleased to once again serve as a drop-off point for the Mental Health Association of Ulster County's Presents for Patients program. The recipients are Ulster County residents at the Hudson River Psychiatric Center who are without family, or are separated from loved ones, during the holidays.  Please donate a new, unwrapped gift to the library from now until December 11th.  Gift suggestions include "something to wear" (large and extra large items preferred) and "something to do" (greeting cards, envelopes, postage stamps, games, puzzles, playing cards, model kits, books, soaps and deodorants). Candy, packaged cookies and chewing gum are also acceptable. Please, no used items. Gifts should be unwrapped so the Mental Health Association staff can address individual patient needs.

Holiday Wreath Auction, Saturday, Nov. 28th

Some talented friends and neighbors will be donating their designs of hand-made holiday wreaths to benefit the Library which will be held at the Benmarl Winery this Saturday evening. Preview begins at 6 p.m. with the always ebullient Frank Pietrzak who will take up his gavel at 7 p.m. to begin the auction. His lively patter makes the auction an entertaining experience. Enjoy a glass of wine and go home with a conversation piece to brighten your holdiday while benefiting the Library at the same time.

Milton Library Tree Lighting Open House and Gingerbread House Contest

The Sarah Hull Hallock Free Library at 56 Main Street in Milton is hosting a Christmas Tree Lighting Open House and Gingerbread House Contest on Saturday, December 5 from 4 to 6pm.  Everyone is invited to come and celebrate the season with song, story, Santa, snacks and more.

Anne Gomola will play the piano for caroling, Marlboro High School music students, Heather Mezynski, Matt Orszewski, Alyssa D'Adamo, and Sara Morehead, will perform a medley of holiday music, and Santa will pay a visit.  The beautiful big evergreen in front of the library has been moved and replanted in a place of honor on Main Street in Poughkeepsie.  In its place is a new tree which will be lit up for the first time. Gingerbread Houses will be displayed and judged, a beautiful holiday wreath made by Stephanie Barley will be raffled off and Town of Marlborough Historian, MaryLou Mahan, will be signing copies of her latest book, Marlborough on My Mind.

Houses for the contest may be dropped off at the library ahead of time or brought the day of the party for judging, with prizes for all entrants.

Food For Fines at the Milton Library

Sarah Hull Hallock Free Library on Main Street in Milton is having a Food for Fines Drive from November 16 through December 18.  Patrons who have overdue books or outstanding fines owed to the Sarah Hull Hallock Free Library may have their fines excused by donating to the drive.   For each non-perishable food item donated, one fine will be forgiven!  The library items must be returned. Replacement fees for missing or lost items are not included.  All food items will be donated to a local food pantry. For more information, call the library at 795-2200.
