What an exciting first week in Pre-Kindergarten!!
The children adapted quickly to the routine and we are reviewing rules. Mac wants us to read every package to him and is one of the first to raise his hand to answer questions at circle time. We started the week introducing ourselves and listening to each child's name, age, favorite color and favorite food. We learned that Charlie's favorite is macaroni and cheese.
The letter of the week was "Aa." We brainstormed words that begin with the letter "A" and Brodie was quick to let us all know that his brother Aidan begins with "A."
In group time we talked about our class rules: Be Safe, Be Respectful and Be Kind. Try asking your children examples of each, it is amazing how many they can give!
We started our writing and math groups this week. We worked on counting objects to 10 and writing our numbers and vertical lines. Utilizing the small group time is very helpful for assessing progress and finding out where each child is excelling. The look on their faces is fun to see when they accomplish a task. They are so proud!
Art is always a favorite and getting messy is always a blast! Handprints were the focus this week. We created handprint apple trees, handprint gift cards, and sequined covered "A"s. Henry loved putting his hands in the paint and giggled each time.
We read First Day Jitters, If You Take a Mouse to School, and The Kissing Hand. The children really liked the idea of having a parent kiss their hand before leaving for school. The rest of the day they ran around kissing themselves, too cute!
We really look forward to a fun, productive year. Please make sure to check your child's manilla folder starting next Friday. The contents are to be taken out and reviewed with your child, then please sign the front of the envelope so we know you saw everything and return it to us on the following Monday.
Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your child's day. We adore them!

What a fabulous first week of Preschool we had! It was such fun to meet so many new friends and get to be with some old friends too.
We used our Me, Myself and I theme to get to know each other better. We learned Preston's favorite food is chicken and that Jack has a cat named Henry.
We read Spots First Day of School and Llama Llama Misses Mama. Both books are about the first day of preschool. Spot the dog and Llama Llama discover that preschool is a lot of fun. We had fun looking at the classrooms in the books and noticing how similar they are to our class. Keeley screamed with delight, "we have art too!"
We learned a poem about "thumby" this week. It's pretty cute. Ask your child to hide "thumby" in a cave.
Speaking of thumbs, in science, we made our thumbprints on paper. We looked at them and noticed all the cool swirls on them. We talked about how each thumbprint is unique and different - just like each of us. The best part was seeing our purple thumbs afterward. Henry was very pleased and asked if he could not wash his thumb.
For literacy this week, we worked on name recognition and we traced our names.
We discovered that yellow highlighter and pink highlighter make orange. Adam was very excited that he made orange and continued to make as much orange as he could.
"A" was the letter of the week. We did several "a"pple activities to celebrate "A." We made apple trees with "A's" for trunks, we painted with apples, we tasted apples and made an apple graph about what color apples we ate (red is our favorite). We read The Apple Pie Tree and then made imaginary apple pies. Alena said she was saving hers for after dinner. We have many friends whose names begin with "A:" Adam, Alena, Asher, Autumn, Ava and Angie all do!
Super "A"wesome, "A"mazing first week everyone! We can't wait to get to know all of you better and we are looking forward to all the fun and learning that we will be having.

Welcome Twos Families!
We are so happy that you and your children are part of our Twos class family this year. It has been a delight this week to get to know your children, and we look forward to having lots of fun adventures with them.
We have noticed many budding scientists among us interested in our sensory table that is currently filled with giant sunflowers and even a ladybug! Grant, Brooklyn, and Sadie enjoyed picking out flower petals and observing our classroom grasshopper/cricket (we aren't sure which it is) that we found sitting among our sunflowers. Everly, Brix, and Olivia also enjoyed creating little versions of themselves at our art table, while Elia busily explored our train and car collection. Yush and Finn made sure that our kitchen area was well-maintained with our fix-it tools while other children created tiny garden and farm scenes or cooked with our special soft food. All in all, the children had a busy week getting to know their new classroom, and all seem to be making a smooth transition. Thank you for all you do, parents!
See you next week.
-Ms. Rebecca, Ms. Nicole, and Ms. Tracey

We had an exciting first week of school by getting to know each other and watching the children develop their friendships. I can already tell that Xhristo and Jake are going to be very good friends.
This week we worked on our daily schedule and we made lots of bathroom trips! The most popular activity this week was playing in the sensory table and it was great fun watching the children so engaged. Maren was very good at making sure all the noodles stayed in the sensory table.
One of our fine motor activities was making our red collage. The children put different red objects on a paper plate and glued them down. Tillie made sure that her plate was covered in red objects and she was very proud of her work.
Snack time is probably the quietest time in the room as they enjoyed their food and the children were very good about washing their hands before getting their snack.
We talked about the weather and dressed our "Weather Frog" to match our current weather conditions. Luckily, we've had such nice weather, the Frog has been dressed in shorts and flip flops all week.
We've been singing songs each day, which appears to be one of Isabella's favorite activities. I'm really looking forward to getting the children's binders back with all the pictures of the children and their families so we can share with one another.

Hello Toddler Families.
We would like to welcome our new families and their children to
the Toddler class and welcome back our old friends that have been with us this past school year.
New Friends:
Ava H., Calvin W., Finn N., Jane F., Luka E., Peyton F., and Piper and Blaine M.
Returning Friends:
Anders D., Hailey B., Luke M., and Zoie S.
Another school year has arrived and we have lots of fun things to learn and holidays to share with you and your families.
This first week we had fun getting acquainted with one another. Our first art project was painting cut out foam people and then we put their names on with glitter letters. After they are dry we will decorate our bulletin board with all the friends holding hands. The second art project was creating their own masterpiece through exploring brushes and different ways to paint with them.
For music we sang songs like, "Good Morning Friends," "Welcome Song," "Everybody Shake Hands," "I Am Growing" and "Where Are You" ( learning each others names).
Story Time: ELMO, CLIFFORD THE BIG RED DOG, and SHOO FLY DON'T BOTHER ME.
This coming week on Friday the 16th from 12:00 to 1:00 it is Grandparents Day. We would love to meet as many of the grandparents who can come and enjoy decorating cupcakes with their grandchild and make a special art project that they will do together. We will make it a special day for the grandparents and children.
Ms. Courtney and Ms. Judy are very excited to have all of you in our classroom this coming school year.
