Summer Vacation

 Pre K Game Time

This week the star student was Logan. He did an amazing job helping with all the
star student duties.

This week we did so  many fun things with our theme, Summer Vacation. We went
camping and built a really cool tent, made Smores, and went to outer space to
learn all about our planets and the solar system.

We also did space math and worked on addition and subtraction problems. Leah and Kristin came up with really great math problems on their own to share with the class.

For art the class made very cool rockets ships and loved adding lots of glitter. We also talked about their favorite place to travel during summer time. Many talked about Hawaii, the Oregon coast and Sunriver. Dylan M. really wants to travel to the desert. It was really cute when he talked to his friends about it, he was very serious.

The class also did a lot of reading and writing. They did a really  fun skill sheet where they had to sound out the words, then write them and finally draw a picture for each word. The class did a great job sounding out many different words. We are so amazed on how great they are doing. We also practiced writing our letters of the week, Vv and Ss. The class knows all their sounds, so at this
point we are just reviewing all the sounds. Their writing is so good. We feel they all have improved so much since the beginning of the year.  Each student is doing so well at sounding out words and continuing to grow on their reading skills.

As the year is coming to the end, we feel the class has accomplished so much and
we are so proud of them all!

Love

Summer VacationPreschool Summer Time Favorites

With the ending of the school year and summer right around the corner, "summer vacation" was a perfect theme.  The kids loved talking about the things they love to do in the sun and about their upcoming summer trips.  We loved Olivia's "glass half full" answer to "What do you do when it's summer?"  She said "when I go to the beach when it's summer, I make a sandcastle and I play with my mom and my dad and sometimes I get sand in my eye but that's OK."  That's the cool thing about summer, a lot of things turn out OK!
In art, we made beachy scenes, painted with flip flops and made big paper people in summer clothes and sunglasses.  These turned out very cute and only two kids put their pants on upsidedown.  The kids enjoyed picking out a summer outfit for their "dude."  Mason and Kaden both made their guys playing baseball.  Loved how Rylee drew eyes on top of and under neath the sunglasses!
The dramatic play/house area was turned into a pic-nic area complete with a checkered table cloth and a grill.  The kids utilized this area a lot this week hosting some amazing B-B-Q parties.  Henry really knows his way around the grill.  He blows the coals and uses a spatula with ease!  The ketchup and mustard bottles were a hit.  Brodie made sure to put a bit of both on everyones everything. It's pretty funny to see how some kids will sit still and wait longer for pretend food than for real food.
M is the letter of the week.  Mason, Monica, and Mac all begin with the letter M.  We acted like moose and mice, made money and painted with mud.  We practiced making the sound an m makes and noticed that it sounds a lot like humming.  So, we played name that tune.  Natalie knew every song in five humms or less!  That girl knows her tunes!  We also each tried on a big paper mustache and modeled it for our friends.  The kids thought it was so funny and wanted to wear it over and over again.  They especially thought it was funny when Mr. Thomas wore it over his  We read Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me by Eric Carle.  Since the letter of the week is M and it is almost father's day this book seems perfect for this week.  The book is about a girl named Monica (like our Monica who was glued to the story) and her papa who, after Monica requests the moon to play with, gets her the moon.  It is a quiet story but it mesmerizes many of the children.  We love it!  Three cheers for all of our fathers who do all kinds of amazing things for us just because we ask!

Summer Vacation | Trains

 2s Story Time

 Dear Twos Families,
We think we can... We think we can... We think we can... Yes, we continued our adventure with transportation this week with the children and concentrated on TRAINS.  The children absolutely LOVE trains and everything about them, so we felt that it was imperative that we go along with their passion.  At the beginning of the week we were lucky to have Ms. Angie with us to talk all about trains and make fun train tracks with the children.  They have been having a delightful time with Ms. Rebecca's special train collection that she is sharing with us from home as well.  Scottie, Noah, Hailey, Adam, Austin, Ava, Riley, Ellie, and Spencer were able to decorate "boxcars" with their names on them with Ms. Nicole for our new "class train" that is going up on the wall.  The children also created their very own trains using the outline of their hands and arms to travel on their homemade tracks.  We have read TRAINS by Gail Gibbons and the classic THE LITTLE TRAIN THAT COULD.  The children just keep chugging along with their learning, so you all should be very proud of them as this school year is coming to a close.  We are definitely proud of all they have accomplished this year!

See you next week.

Summer Vacation

Toddler Yush

Well it's official, the sun is up and the fun is here and our Toddlers kicked it off with lots fun in the sun action! From painting bright yellow suns and coloring (and stickering) big beach balls to chalk art

and summer travel posters, we had a great week talking about our past and future summer activities. The class had a blast talking about

traveling to all sorts of places from the beach to Hawaii, these kids love to travel anywhere in the sun! We read a variety of books this week like Ready, Set, GO!, The Noisy Seagull, The Petting Zoo, Mister Sun and I Went Walking.

But our summer fun was not just

found in books and art projects, but also in our music as Ms. Courtney brought in some Hawaiian and Beach Boys tunes. Sadie loved

"Kokomo" and Kai and Isaac had no problem strutting their stuff and dancing for everyone.

We also know with the sun and summer comes

another big event soon, graduation to new classes. We want to say that EVERY child has progressed so incredibly much with us that that there are not words to describe how much each one has grown. From Lucy M. to being such a big and brave girl now in class, to Jack and Grant doing so well with their words and sharing, it's hard to believe they are going to be moving up so very soon!!

Also, the class would like to say "Happy

Birthday" to Ms. Rebecca of the Two's Class. We love getting to see you in the "Big Room" and some Lunch Bunch days!!! Also, Scottie who

started off in our class in the beginning of the year is moving to Boston and we want to wish her and her family the best of luck in their

new life ahead!! You will be missed Scottie.

We hope everyone at PEAKE Academy has a fabulous weekend and has some fun in the sun!

Love,

Ms. Courtney and Ms. Judy
