In Spanish, we have graduated to translating books into Spanish. I am reading the books (los libros) to the ninos (children) half in English and half in Spanish at this point. Very exciting!! Leah shouts out the words in English after I say them in Spanish for her class to hear. |

Celebrating Mothers
Celebrating moms of all kinds was a popular theme this week as we brainstormed ways to help our moms around the house and celebrate them daily, not just on holidays. Kennedy suggested setting the table for dinner and then clearing plates afterwards! Great idea, and something children at any age can do to feel helpful. We spoke about animal mothers and different ways they "parent" their children. Ashton especially liked the idea that baby opossums ride on their mothers back to get from one place to another.
Letters of the Week were "Mm" and "Qq." We began writing entire words instead of just the letters and the children were so impressed with what they can accomplish. It is an exciting time of the year to see how far they have developed and how much they have achieved.
The sensory bin was a favorite with everyone as it contained chocolate cake mix (powder) and brown sugar. Transferring the mixture from left to right was the task and once completed they could make anything their imagination could come up with. Olive made a garden while Bodie made a "sand" castle. It smelled so good!
Our journals are filling up and I took some time to look through them front to back. They will blow your mind! What fun it was to see how far writing has come, especially when some kids couldn't even hold a pencil at the beginning of the year! Kristin takes great care in her writing and can't wait to run it over to me upon its completion.
Mothers' Day art projects were super fun and we hope you enjoyed receiving them as much as we did making them! During their creation we talked a lot about how we felt making something so special knowing it was to make another person feel good. We spoke about giving and not just receiving and they were so proud of their efforts and end product. Leah was so excited she couldn't sit still!
We have been working on a lot of collaborative projects in Art the last few weeks. This week in Math we graphed "All About Us." Five separate charts showing all different aspects of our traits and households. We also made a giant puzzle and discussed how when we all work together more is accomplished. Both projects are on the walls. Please feel free to let your child show them to you. Another fun project was using a giant plastic swimming pool and working together to roll different sized balls filled with paint around on paper. This is "action art" and a whole lot of laughter was heard throughout school this day.
Story and music time, as always, highlight our day. The children learned a chant called "I said a boom chicka boom." Olive's favorite part was when they chanted it like a princess. Too funny!! Even the boys joined in!! The favorite book of the week was by Mercer Mayer called "Shopping with Mom." If you are not familiar with this author, every story has a hidden animal on each page that the children need to find while I read, super fun!!!!
Once again, a big thank you to all of the moms who have helped over the past couple of months. The love and effort you put forth to assist our children goes a long way and does not go unnoticed, you rock!!! |
Update on Ms. Lindsi: Her doctor will release her May 16th. We will continue to update you as we know.

Celebrating Mothers
Hip..hip..HOORAY for Moms!!!!! We spent this week "Celebrating Mothers." What a sweet week it was. A week full of those warm fuzzy feelings and sweet stories of a child's love for their mommy. We also had plenty of laughs and animated discussions about the things that our mommies do with and for us. The question of "what super special thing does your mommy do?" turned into a lengthy discussion about breakfast foods. If you are a mommy who makes pancakes and bacon you are probably making a little guy or gal very very happy! We really loved some of the mommy stories this week. Everyone loved the monster mommy in What Mommies Can't Do. We always know when Palmer enjoys a book because later he'll ask "Do you remember this story?" Does a Kangaroo have a Mother too? by Eric Carle had many fun animals in it. We sure liked pretending to be all the animals. We also learned that a mommy kangaroo is a flyer, a daddy kangaroo is a boomer and a baby kangaroo is a joey. We hopped around a lot this week pretending to be kangaroos. Ellie was always a flyer and made a funny little kangaroo face as she hopped. Mommy's Special Day had the kids cracking up. I think they could really relate to the little girl pig in the story yet couldn't believe what a mess she was accidentally making. We learned "the mommy song." The kids loved that they could spell mommy. Mason shouts out the letters with gusto! When we sing the mommy song we use claps to replace letters each time we sing the song. By the end all of the letters in mommy are claps instead. Brodie would start giggling and would say "Oh No!" each time we would talk about taking another letter away. You gotta love that enthusiasm. We learned a little magic with the word mom too. We had a paper with Mom on it and then gave it some magic and gave it lots of love by blowing it kisses and >POOF< MOM turned into WOW! What a cool trick! The letter of the week was h. H is for Hannah and Henry. H is also for hands. We did a lot of hand tricks and practiced opposites with our hands. We can clap loud and quiet and fast and slow. We can make our hands far apart and close together and high and low. H is also for hearts. We made hearty h's and practiced sewing with heart lacing shapes. Lauren is getting to be such good lacer. Thank you all so much for such an amazing teacher appreciation week. The kids' sweet faces and the pride and happiness they showed giving their goodies was precious. All the sweet words and thanks were enough to make us all teary-eyed with appreciation. We love you all and are so happy that you choose to have your children in our class. That never goes unappreciated. Thanks Have the happiest of mother's days to all of you mommies (and grandmas out there.) There should be a mommy's day every week to celebrate all of the work and love you do for your families. Your kids really love you. We took a few moments this week to quietly appreciate our moms. We closed our eyes and thought about our moms. What they look like, the fun things they do, the warm lovey feeling that is in your body when you get a mommy hug. When we thought about these things, your kids got the sweetest, purest little quiet smiles on their faces and it was beautiful. You are loved!

Celebrating Mothers
|
Hello Twos families! This week was dedicated to mothers and all that they do for us! We discussed how mothers help us and are there for us, and the children had so much to say! Our class's moms do everything from cooking dinner to playing Legos to playing trains to teaching us about horses to putting us to bed. Moms are sure an impressive, eclectic group! Ellie, Claire, Austin, Spencer, Adam, Noah, Maddie, Neve, Audrey, Hailey, and Riley all really got into creating special Mother's Day "pockets" filled with "kisses" for their moms, and many children wanted to be interviewed by Ms. Nicole about their moms for their Mother's Day cards. Ms. Rebecca and Ms. Nicole loved hearing all of their answers! Hopefully, many of you were able to attend the Mother's Day tea on Friday and make a special craft with your child. For all of you mothers out there reading this, know that you are VERY much LOVED and APPRECIATED by your children! See you next week! |

Celebrating Mothers

It's that season of the year where we all, children, friends and alike come to cherish and truly recognize someone quite special in our lives, our Moms. I would just like to say to all the Toddler Mothers, your children simply adore you. Everyday we get to hear all about you, from what you do for work, to what you make them for food and where you take them on trips..They all have such numerous and spectacular stories and things to say about each and everyone one of you. You have some terrific kids!!! But we didn't just talk about our moms and their special places in our hearts, we ALSO made special tokens of affection for our marvelous mothers. From handprint poems, decorated specifically by your child picking your favorite colors (as they told us). Isaac your hand print will remain a special memory for your mom, having one hand and then only fingers for the other, due to your cast..Quite a good sport you are Little I. Jack, Jake, Maren and Sadie were, without a doubt our perfectionists when it came to handprints, no smudges nor drips...lovely job to you all. Brooklyn you have been very loving with our friends Isaac and Luke. Thank you for being so motherly to the boys. In honor of our theme of Mom's we read: "Mommy Loves Me, " "Snuggle Puppy," "Counting Kisses," "Bye Bye Mommy" and "I Love You, Mommy." We made other art project for mommies like Pockets Full of (Hershey) Kisses and All About My Mom cards. It was a lovely and heart felt week in class. Friday we wrapped up our tribute to mom's by holding a Mother's Day Tea Party. Cheers to all our Mom's!
Thank You To All Staff and Guardians for the Teacher Appreciation Gifts!
Love Ms. Courtney and Ms. Judy. |
