Open Enrollment has begun for external families.  If you have any friends looking for an amazing school please encourage them to come in and get a tour.  If you haven't already done so, please save your child's spot for the '11/'12 school year to ensure your preferred schedule is secured.

St. Valentine

Lily's Creation

This week in Pre-K we talked about Valentine's Day. The children are so excited for our party on Monday and cannot wait to give their Valentines away to friends.  Please just bring 22 Valentines with no names, just your child's signature to alleviate any confusion  upon handing them out.

Lily loved brainstorming with Logan about what Valentine's reminds them of when they hear the word.  The class collectively came up with  colors, feelings and things they can do to show others they care.

We read Froggy's First Kiss and laughed and laughed while the boys commented on how "gross" kissing is!  Winnie the Pooh's Valentine was also a hit and Vera Vipers Valentine kept the kids entranced.

Our letters of the week were "Vv" and "Ll."  Please continue brainstorming with your child to come up with words that begin with these letters.  They never cease to amaze us!  Jack jumped right in and came up with the most.

Math consisted of more and less and addition and subtraction.  Soleil has really grown in her ability to complete the math problems when we move the children to stations.

During our station time Pearl has become an expert builder and told us that Legos are now her new favorite thing to play with.  We have been encouraging the girls to build more and the boys to role play.  It is so much fun to watch them interact with new manipulatives that they might not normally gravitate towards.

Art is always a favorite part of our day!  We love to get messy and school is the perfect place for just that!!  We made our Valentine's bags, paper hearts, butterflies out of hearts and decorated a special surprise for our families.

Spanish continues to progress at a rapid rate.  Pronunciation is excellent and we can now count to 100!  Be sure to ask your children to count by 10's.  We also are learning our shapes and body parts.  Aidan's favorite part of class is the Hokey Pokey when Maestra Stacy says "put your fundio in".  (it is their bottom!)

Ms. Lindsi is headed to begin her exciting adventure of becoming a mom.  She is scheduled to be induced on Monday.  We will keep you posted on her progress and the arrival of Princess Smith.  :-)  Thank you again for all of the families that volunteered to assist in the classroom in the coming weeks.

Looking forward to seeing parents in class over the next few weeks while Ms. Lindsi is gone.  Take care and Happy Valentine's Day!!

St. Valentine was this week's theme and we sure did have fun getting ready for and celebrating Valentine's day all week.  Our class has just been full of hearts and love all week.  We have, hands down, the sweetest kids, maybe ever, in our class!

We enjoyed some great valentine stories including Love Lola, Sweethearts, and Olive My Love.  Our favorite book this week was Valenswine.  So funny!  Rory told her mom that a valenswine is a pig you love and that maybe her little sister could be her valenswine because she is kind of messy.  Rory,  you are a crack up!

In art, we made heart art collages, valentine bags, and of course valentines.  We have some kids who have been away this week so some children were given the job of making a friends valentine bag also.  Brodie worked so much harder on his friend Tegan's bag than his own and is very proud of how nice the bag looks.  Tegan will surely love it.  We worked together to color two very large hearts.  One of the hearts is even bigger than any of the children.  It is super fun to stand in front of it and see how much bigger it is than us!
We sang "I love somebody" this week.  The look on a child's face when they are sung to, know they are loved and are special is precious.  We went to the office to serenade Ms. Sosanda and Ms. Kathia with our song also.  Rylee suggested that we also sing to Ms. Sosanda's baby (Luka) but she was asleep.  Good idea though Rylee.  You are so thoughtful and sweet.

Our letter of the week was V.  V is for Valentine which was our theme this week but V is also for Volcano!  Kaboom!  We read two volcano books.  One named Volcano and one named Volcanoes.  Then to end the day with a bang (hee hee), we erupted our own volcano!  We did the classic baking powder and vinegar volcano experiment and everyone watched in anticipation and then eyes became giant and Ellie F said quietly "That is so cool!"  Then everyone got really excited and we talked about all the things that the kids know about volcanoes.  Palmer knows that you can't swim in a volcano.  And building on what Palmer knows, Olivia knows that you "really, really can't swim in a volcano!"

Cash has a lot to be proud of this week.  He can now slide down the playground poles.  Good job, buddy!  You have been wanting to do that for so long!
Our Valentine's day party is Monday from 12 to 1.  We'd love it if you could come join us!  Families and children are all invited.  Be aware that if it is not your child's scheduled day, a parent or guardian must stay with them.  If you have any questions or want to help with anything please ask (or e-mail) Ms. Angie or Mr. Thomas.  Hope to see you there!

Valentine's

Hello Twos Families!

2s Story Time

This week we have been continuing our celebration of the upcoming Valentine's Day holiday and talking about the ones we love.  We have had fun making valentines dedicated to our moms, dads, brothers, sisters, and yes, even our dogs!  Neve and Flynn talked about how much they loved their mom and dad, while Hailey made sure to say how much she loved her big sister Taylor.  Claire even mentioned how much she loved "babies" in general, and Noah made sure to include his dog, Maggie, as someone he loved very much!  Ava also liked talking about her baby sister and how much she loved her, too!  It has been a special week discussing how important our loved ones and friends are and how people try to remember and celebrate them on Valentine's Day through giving Valentine cards, candy, flowers, and just spending time with them.   The children also enjoyed decorating special Valentine bags that will hold their cards on Monday (even if your child isn't coming on Monday, we will have a bag of cards for them).  Riley decorated hers with lots of glittery decor, while Ellie and Maddie added many jewels to theirs.  This week we also welcomed a new classmate, William to our midst.  We are so glad he is with us!

See you all next week!

St. Valentine

Fireman Jack

How do I love you let "us" count the ways....Our toddlers are some of
the most loving and caring children we have seen and they are simply
fantastic at showing their affection.  From their family to their friends and teachers in class, there is much love in our room!

Love was our theme this week. Valentine's Day actually, and we did lots of LOVELY art to express this heart felt holiday. Our little ones made stained glass hearts, love bugs (heart shaped butterflies), heart handprints with poems and of course Valentines day bags, for their Valentines! We also read some adorable books, such as: Guess How
Much I Love You?, HUG, The Giving Tree, and I Love You Because You're You!  We also doodled with lots of reds, pinks and purples,
recognizing some of the colors we see for Valentine's Day.  Ms. Courtney,
Ms. Judy and Ms. Olga love our Toddlers so very much!

Also, we welcomed a new friend to class. Anna in Preschool's, little sister Lucy
joined us Wednesday and did a marvelous job!!

We hope all families have a wonderful and lovely Valentines Day!

Love,
Ms. Courtney, Ms. Judy and Ms. Olga.
