with
Maestra Stacy | | We have been talking about and working with more fruit this week. We made fingerprint fruit and with each fingerprint the children named the fruit and its color. We drew fruit faces as well and the kids thought this was particularly funny. Please take the time to review them with your children and if you remember, have them name the fruit as you give it to them at home. Banana - platano, grapes - uvas, watermelon - sandia, orange - naranja, pineapple - pina, strawberry - fresa.

Groundhogs and Habitats
The star student is Logan. Logan has taken S
tar Student very seriously. He wants to do everything perfectly and wants to be the best helper ever! He has waited to be Star Student very patiently and was so excited that his time had
come!
As the class created art we also talked about science. The class created a very beautiful fish out of paper plates and decorated it with multi-colored tissue paper. After the class finished their fish we talked about a fish's habitat, where they live, what they eat, and who they share their habitat with. Olive and Leah made a very colorful fish. The class also made butterflies out of toilet paper rolls and colored construction paper. As they finished we talked about each stage of the butterfly's life and the habitat of each stage. The class finished the week making a frog and it's habitat and a worm in a mountain of mud.
During math the class played the number game. This game is
where they see a group of numbers and some numbers are
missing. They had to figure out the missing number and then write the correct missing number in. We also practiced counting objects and then the class had to write the correct number that corresponded to the objects. During calendar we counted up to 31 and started over for the new month of February. Zoi and Soleil are so excited for Valentine's day!
Reading time was very cute, we read about The life cycle a butterfly, Beatrice's Goat, and Put me into the Zoo.
We had a great week! Let us know if you would like to help with our Valentine's Day party!

Groundhogs and Habitats
This week's theme of Groundhogs and Habitats was a favorite for many kids because we got to act like animals all week! Our shark faces were ferocious, our lion roars were loud, and we can all swing an elephant trunk like nobodies business! *Here is a little inside tip about preschoolers-- if you transform them into animals, you can get them to do almost anything! They walk better, they listen better and they eat better. I am not sure if this works for individual children but it sure works as a group!*
We did some animal counting in math this week. We worked on numeral recognition, and one to one correspondence. Rory and Kaelen did great jobs this week.
We read great animal books. We talked about how some stories are about pretend things and are fictional and some stories are informational and factual and are true. For example, we read Firefighter Ted about a fire fighting bear. It was a cute story but bears aren't really firefighters so that is a fictional story (although we forgot about Smoky the Bear and he's totally real- right?!) The kids also enjoyed If You are Happy and You Know It. We were able to do all kinds of happy animal movements. Anna does a very cute ring-tailed lemur spin. We read Monkey See, Monkey Draw. It is a very cool book. We drew a thank you card to the author because our Pre-k friend Soleil and he got the book for the school. Hannah drew a nice picture of the cave in the story and Palmer's monkey is adorable. It was sure nice to have a reason to act like monkeys for a while. We also read Wild Animals. This story asked us questions about animals and then would answer the questions and we were able to learn many new things. One of the questions was Does Kangaroo need his tail? Mason answered confidently,"No. He has one! I see it right there!"
In science, we learned where different animals live when they are in the wild. This is a great way to learn about different parts of the world and different types of environments. The kids know that sharks live in the ocean, polar bears live in the arctic, kangaroos are from Australia and Rhinoceroses live in Africa. The tricky part is that the kids all know these animals also all live at the zoo. Learning the difference between animals in captivity and animals in the wild is an interesting concept to cover and understand.
Our letter of the week was U. We practiced going Under things. We also decorated U's with pictures of umbrellas and umpires. Rylee showed the kids that an upside down U is a rainbow and so we also just made a bunch of rainbows.
Thank you Kaden's mommy, Ms. Kara, for all the art supply goodies.
If you would like to schedule a conference this month please feel free to talk to Ms. Angie or Mr. Thomas. We would be happy to get together and talk about school, how awesome your child is and of course discuss any questions or concerns you may have.
Valentine's Day is fast approaching! If you are interested in helping with the day's festivities please let Ms. Angie or Mr. Thomas know.

Valentine's
Hello Twos families!
We're hopping along closer to Valentine's Day and talking all about how we show our friends and family how much we love and care about them. Earlier in the week we made valentine frogs, and later we read about the origins of Valentine's Day and made our very own cards and Valentine "buddies." We played a lot of dress-up with the girls this week, with Claire, Sadie, Maddie, and Ellie trying on the latest fashions in princess dresses. Later, Noah, Adam, Austin, and Flynn played "builders" and created some fantastic towers and houses out of blocks and large legos. We were able to celebrate some of our early birthdays with Henry and Carson wearing their birthday crowns, and we created lovely mosaic "heart art" that can be hung on the windows. Neve, Riley, Hailey, Sadie, Claire, and Flynn especially loved all of our art projects this week. Hope to see all of you as we continue our study of Valentine's Day next week!

| Toddler School with Ms. Judy, Ms. Courtney
& Ms. Olga | | Groundhogs and Habitats
This week we had fun learning about animal habitats and ground-hogs . We sang songs about hibernation and squirrels gathering acorns. For art we made groundhog paper puppets and colored groundhogs. Our color was red so we started a mural and next week they will put doilies hearts on the mural.
We also started to make Valentines. We are decorating our classroom with a Valentine "Buddy" out of construction paper. They created their own "Sun Catcher" out of tissue paper. The letter for this week was the letter "S" for sun. After snack we played our music, sang and danced. They also love blowing bubbles during this active time. .
We have a new friend named Jake and we welcome him and his mommy and daddy to our toddler family. Love, Miss Courtney, Miss Olga and Miss Judy. |
