Hibernation
Start Student - Kristin was a helpful Star Student. She never let us forget any duties of a Star Student. She was a great leader and classmate.
Art - The class had fun learning about different animals that hibernate. We made a bear in it's dark cave getting ready for it's long winter's nap. The class also created a really cute bear puppet and a squirrel habitat picture showing it hiding nuts and seeds for when it wakes in the spring time and they are really hungry. Finally, the class made colorful snow flakes using water color paint.
Math - The class continued working on their numbers, counting, using the calendar time to learn about the names of the holidays and special events marked by symbols, while using the year long time line. The class also found examples of circles and rectangles in every day objects. Finally, the class practiced using subtraction to keep track of how many days until Christmas. They cannot wait until Christmas!
Writing - the letters of the week are Hh and Ii. The class learned the sounds and words that correlate with the letters of the week. They also practiced writing both letters of the week and they made a "Hh" book. The class has also continued to practice writing their names.
Reading - We talked about "Read/Tell" story based on illustrations of a book with text that has not been read previously. Also, the class described event/task already taken place outside of immediate time/place or will take place using present, past and future tenses. The class read Bear that Hibernates, The Hungry Hippo, Izzy the Iguana, and Why we Hibernate.
Science - The class learned about the life cycle of the brown bear, when the brown bear mates, how old cubs are when they are full grown, when the cubs leave their mother, and when baby bears are born. Finally, the class learned how and where certain animals hibernate, what hibernation is exactly and what it means.
Music - The class has been practicing their songs for our upcoming Christmas program. Those songs are a surprise!! The class has also been practicing instruments to add to our songs. Our hibernation songs that we have learned are, "Scurry Squirrels" and "Don't be slow."

Hibernation
We had a "beary" nice time during our "hibernating animals" theme this week. We mostly talked about hibernating bears, but we also learned about some other animals that hibernate too, including mice and snakes. We also loved to pretend to hibernate. It is so sweet when all of the kids are huddled together on the floor "sleeping." Heads, feet and little half closed eyes everywhere is a precious sight. Of course, when spring comes, we all wake up and stretch and shake off our sleepy and then go find a little something to eat. The life of a preschool bear is awesome!
We sang a lot this week. The kids really enjoyed learning the song, "The bear went over the mountain." They especially loved it when they decided what the bear saw. Many of the bears saw princesses and lots of Star Wars characters where seen. Hannah's bear saw "a singing jellybean" and Mac's bear always saw "a dolphin." I think this will be a class favorite and we will sing it many times in the future.
In art, we made the cutest bear puppets. Rylee's poor bear was sick and had multi-colored spots all over it. Still, it was super adorable-kind of like Rylee! In math, we counted and sorted bears. We also put bears into caves. Each bear cave could hold a particular number of bears. It was the children's job to make sure none of the caves were over crowded.
Marvelous M was our letter this week. We had lots of marvelous children to celebrate M with including Monica, Mac and Mason! We also learned that one of our FAVORITE people begins with M. Three cheers for Mommy! (three m's in mommy too!) We enjoyed monkeying around and painting M's with Marshmallows but the activity that got the most response was when we practiced making the sound an M makes. When it was done just right an M & M was received (how would you say it if it were just one?) Wow, can those kids MMMMMMMM!
Happy Birthday Kaden! It has been amazing to watch you grow up so much! Super proud of you, kiddo!
Happy Birthday to you Mason! We can't wait to see all the cool things you will do as a 3 year old!
We are glad you all are back from your holiday trips. Tegan came back very excited because he "watched the Colts and ate bacon!" If your future holiday plans include any days out of school (or bacon) please remember to mark it on the sign on the classroom door! Thanks!!!
A HUGE thank you to Mason's mommy, Zie Zie for coming in to do the coolest project with us! We LOVE our parent volunteers!!!

| Two's School with Ms. Nicole & Ms. Rebecca | | Thanksgiving
Hello Twos families!
Last week, we continued learning all about Thanksgiving, and what it means to "give thanks" for the great things in our lives. This is an extremely difficult concept for children at this age to understand, but if you talk with them about what they are happy about in their life, they will understand it at their level. It is a good beginning for children to understand what giving thanks is all about and to becoming a positive person in life.
Paige, Riley, Ava, Finley, and Claire all enjoyed making their very own handprint turkeys this week and decorating them with feathers, while Noah, Adam, and our big kindergarten helper, Riley, kept our classroom "post office" running by creating their own mail bags and delivering the post to everyone and anyone who would take it. The Lake Oswego post office could use a few good men like them! Lots of play occurred with our dollhouse and cars as well as great "rocket ships" were built out of Duplo blocks. We were also fortunate to partake in a ballet/dance class all together, which was very special. The children stretched and leaped, and even tried to reach for a stray balloon high in the ceiling, stretching out their upper bodies as well. Everyone enjoyed dancing with scarves and doing their very own dance interpretations to some hip disco music (which the teachers even wanted to groove to!) They also twirled and circled hand-in-hand with one another, which was quite a site to see them all working together as a team. All in all, our three day week has been as busy as ever!

| Toddler School with Ms. Judy, Ms. Courtney
& Ms. Olga | | Hibernation
What a great week back from Thanksgiving everyone had. It seems our little Toddlers grew up over Turkey Day! Our friends Avery and Jack had an excellent week, along with all our other friends, it was just a great thing to come back to class too! This week in our Toddler class we talked about Hibernation, but mainly about bears. All our students over the week made their very own bear book, coloring each page with various shades of current focus color, brown. Also, our letter this week is 'K' and our dear Olivia, painted the K herself and her friends decorated our letter with....are you ready? KITTIES!!Adorable little kittens at that too! We read several books on hibernation and bears, like: Bear Snore On, Shhh...Don't Wake the Puppies, Sleepy Time Olie, Where's My Hug? and Hush Little Baby. We also read and acted out the story (with finger puppets) of Goldie Locks and the Three Bears.
Also, parents, friends and family, the Toddlers have been working very, very hard on their special songs we are preparing for our little Christmas show December 16th. We hope to see as many of us as we can! This week seemed to have flown by, but it was still a great one, for everyone!
