This week in Spanish we are working on the days of the week. The new song we are learning is to the "Adam's Family" theme song. They love it! The children have now mastered their colors. Make sure to take the time to ask them the colors in Spanish. The effort they have put into learning them is priceless. |

Pre-Kindergarten with Ms. Lindsi & Ms. Stacy
| | Earth Cycles
Pre K was a blast this week!! We studied Earth Cycles and spoke about the Water Cycle and Seasons. In Art we made trees to represent the four seasons and Aidan was very proud of his! Ms. Lindsi and Ms. Stacy brought in their irons and the children learned what happens to crayons when you place them between wax paper and apply heat. Leah was beside herself with excitement to watch the solids turn to liquid. Especially when her favorite color (pink) was the first to melt. Our beautiful planet suncatchers have added so much color to our walls. Kristin's continents turned out perfectly! Our writing consisted of the letters of the week: "Cc and Ee." We talked about the sounds they make and the words that begin with these letters, then practiced writing them daily. Cash has made great strides in his writing and beams upon completing his work. We read The Biggest Leaf Pile, Leaf Man, E is for Ellie Elephant and C is for Copycats. Storytime is always a hit and Logan reads so well that he now finishes the sentences before we can get to the end. Too cute! He is so proud! Science consisted of studying ladybugs (Asian Lady Beetles) actually. Grace found great pleasure in lying on the rug while watching them climb into the lid of the container. The idea of a solid turning to a liquid was particularly fun. We will be furthering this study with ice and salt later on in the year. Math included addition, subtraction and more and less. We also practiced finding missing numbers in a sequence.

Earth Cycles
During this week's "Earth cycles" theme, the preschoolers talked a bit about the four seasons of the year but really focused on the fall fun happening in the world around us. We read books about fall, made great fall art, and did leaf activities galore. The kids enjoyed talking about the environmental changes they have been seeing at their homes and at school. Andy even told us that his "leaves are changing too!"
We read some great books this week. One of our favorites was Miranda's Umbrella. Most of the kids were glued to their seats, wide-eyed. Halfway through the story, Monica whispered "I love Miranda." We also read The Leaf Man, Frog and Toad are Friends and The Wind Blew. Henry was really excited about The Wind Blew and could hardly stop talking about all of the things that the wind blew into the air during the story.
In art, we focused on fall activities. We enjoyed painting paper leaves in fall colors, made fall trees using our arms as trunks, and made some art pieces using real leaves from trees and paint and paper. What wonderful collage work.
In Math, we counted leaves and practiced making patterns with leaves. And in science, we looked at different kinds of leaves with magnifying glasses. The kids love to explore the things around them with magnifying glasses. Things look so different and so...big!
Our letter of the week is I. Our favorite I activity was to melt like ice. We enjoyed moving from place to place like we were melting like ice and then we would FREEZE! Kaden makes the best frozen face, so funny. In art, we painted with ice. The ice had food coloring in it and it was cool to see the wet colors go onto the paper. It was messy wet fun.
We are excited to welcome some new faces to our class. We are glad to have you join us Caroline, Natalie and Nolan.
Big thanks to Monica's family for the amazingly fun Halloween party last week. The hats and pumpkins were so adorable and it was so much fun to have you help us out. Thanks also to Kaden's family for the delicious Halloween cookies. The kids enjoyed choosing between ghosts, pumpkins, and cats and they looked so silly with their orange and black tongues.
Happy Birthday to Rylee! You are 4 now and that is super cool!
Happy Birthday to Ellie F. Ellie was so excited to be the birthday girl that it was even harder than usual to stay still!

| Two's School with Ms. Nicole & Ms. Rebecca | | Home & Family
Happy November Twos Families,
This week we have begun a special inquiry into "families" and have asked the questions, "What is a family?", "Who are in families?" and "What do families do?" We made paper bag puppets representing a member of our family and a special frame which will hold a picture of our family. At the beginning of the week Finley and Flynn practiced doing household chores by washing the dishes for us, and Noah was a great help to Ms. Rebecca by assisting her in setting up for snack. We also had fun this week designing "houses" for our family to live in. Neve, Sadie, Ava, and Adam all decided to include "gardens" in their front yard, while Neve also wanted to include a cozy fireplace in hers. Paige made sure to include a bedroom (complete with dog sitting on the mattress!) and a bath tub inside of her home, and Adam insisted on a garage , of course! This week's letter is "H," so our study of home and family fits in perfectly! Come by and visit us to see more of our dream homes! (And please send in a photo of your family for us to copy and use next week! You can also email them to Ms. Nicole at nschreiber@integrity.com. Thank you!) |
| Toddler School with Ms. Judy, Ms. Courtney
& Ms. Olga | | Family
Moms, dads, brothers and sisters are just a few very important people that make up a family. Let us start at the beginning of the week, where our Toddlers made their own houses, fully furnished! We talked about how many families live in houses, by the way, house starts with the letter "h" which just happens to be our letter of the week! Not only did we make homes for our letter this week, but we also colored hearts. As you know, "home is where the heart is." Also, our class made adorable puppets of special people in their families. Our focus color this week was green and we had a blast making a large green collage out of various objects and supplies we came across in class; plus it was great to recycle items we found! Some other fun family projects we did this week were family picture frames and a large class collage of cut outs of pictures to represt families and homes. This week we learned some new songs (which all the kids loved): "The Families in the House," "My Family" and "Families Are Special."

Local Artist, Jen Pahl
teaches our smARTy Pants Art Class.
OCTOBER:
"Fruits, Veggies, Eyes and Ears"
Can you use fruits and vegetables to create art? Sure, you can! We'll learn that complex forms can be created using simple shapes like apples and carrots! We'll look to Italian artist Giuseppe Arcimbolo for inspiration and create a portrait using items right from the garden.
"Kandinsky- Get Your Groove on and Make some Art!"
Learn about Russian-born painter and musician Wassily Kandinsky. We'll listen to music and create artwork that reflects how it makes us feel. Then, we'll put all of our creations together to create a single, vibrant piece of artwork to hang in the lounge at Play Boutique for everyone to enjoy!
"Seurat the dot!"
Tiny dots of pure color were what George Seurat used to create shape and pattern in his artwork. We'll use watercolors and q-tips to create our own pointillism masterpieces. Up close, they just look like a bunch of dots but, stand back and the magic is revealed!
"Mondrian's Window Blocks"
Piet Mondrian was known for his abstract color blocks of red, yellow and blue. We'll have fun using his techniques to make a 'stained glass' window pane to hang in the Play Boutique's art studio window for everyone to see. come...or, save them for unique and personal holiday gifts for that special someone. The last class will end with an open house art show to share our creations with friends and family. |
