| | Summer Vacation
Star Student - Dillon
For Art we made leis from Maui, paper canoes to go canoeing at Lake Merwin, Statue of Liberty crown and torches, Caden and Allie loved making torches! Finally we made handprint suns, for us to put in our pockets and take with us every where we went on vacation!
For Social Studies went on a plane to Maui, Hawaii and talked about why Hawaii is an island. We went on a fairy to see a light show of the Statue of Liberty and talked about how France gave us this important statue, and finally we ended our summer vacation in San Diego while learning about killer whales.
In Math we continued to talk about money. We reviewed the different coins and their values and talked about what president is on each coin. We played a really fun money game, where a group of students represented a coin (penny, nickel, dime and quarter) and gave the class a number. As a group they had to tell me what coins they would use to get to the number I gave them. We also talked about different sizes, small, medium and large. Rowan, Logan, Alex and Molly had a great time playing the money game!
For Reading, Ms. Stacy read, The Bunnies Trip, House Takes a Vacation and Caesar Takes a Break. It was so fun, when we were camping at Lake Merwin, we got to hear our story in our tent! Taylor, Arianna and Sikha thought it was so funny we had a tent at school!
In Writing we continued to work on blending sounds and rhyming words. Taj, Leah, and Gracie did so well learning rhyming words and blending their sounds together. The letters of the week are Jj and Vv.
Music was very cute, Ms Stacy gave a mini hula dance lesson to the class. Wish we had a video camera because the hip shaking was so cute. They loved hula dancing. We also worked with instruments at our luau in Maui!

Summer Vacation
Feels like summer! No? Well, it did in class this week. Our "Summer Vacation" theme inspired lots of imaginative play, memories of vacations past and anticipation of summer vacations and trips happening soon. It sounds like every one is going to have a super fun summer this year! We enjoyed "class vacations" this week. We visited the beach. It was fun to pack up our suitcases, and drive, walk and fly to the ocean and splash in the waves. We also went camping. We built a campfire (and talked about never playing with matches and lighters and what to do if we saw any-tell a grown up!) and pretended to make s'mores. We roasted our marshmallows over an open campfire and ate them up with chocolate and graham crackers. Tegan said "Yum" It is super fun to pretend BUT it is even more fun to really make s'mores! Since we did not have a real fire to roast our marshmallows we made a s'mores salad. We added the ingredients in a bag and then squeezed, mashed and shook everything up. Lou was worried that they were toy marshmallows and chocolate chips so he was super excited when we were able to actually eat it. Tegan again said "Yum!" but with a little more enthusiasm. Even though the sun was missing outside most of the week, we made sure to do a lot of summer sun art. We painted with sunny colors, made paper plate suns, and wrote and illustrated a book called What We Like To Do When It's Summer. Palmer said he likes to "Play that game outside in (his) grass" and Andy likes to "put toys somewhere and get pop sickles out." Everyone agreed they also liked to get pop sickles out. We painted with flip flops and everyone thought that was very silly and we all decided we should not do that with the flip flops we wear on our feet. Our favorite project was our pool painting. We all had to hold the swimming pool together and a ball would roll around through the paint as we moved the pool. It was a great group project which required teamwork and cooperation and the paintings are beautiful. Our letter of the week was n! N is for nice and nose. We made n's covered in numbers. We also made noodle necklaces. Well, we began to make noodle necklaces. Dylan M. decided to make a fishing pole instead and so all of the kids made fishing poles and Dylan led some of the kids on a fishing vacation. They caught many fish and had a great time. Neil even said the fish were very yummy. Even though Kristin made a fishing pole too, she did write a rhyme about noodles for me. "Noodle crack, noodle stack!" A big thank you to Aaren's big sister Ashlyn for being a teacher's helper last week. It was so fun to have you with us, Ashlyn! Thanks also to the toddler class for making us the cutest graduation sign. You guys are so sweet. We love our "little" pals!

| Toddler School with Ms. Judy & Ms. Courtney | | Summer Vacation
It was summer fun this week, well, at least it was in class! The toddlers and us used you imaginations and kicked it like beach bums on a sand tropic island with bright smiling sun, picnic and waves galore! We all had our own plates and put our favorite foods on it including a red and white tablecloth. We made our friend Elmo carrying ice cream and even enjoyed our own waffle cups full of chocolate ice cream, mm mmm!! We colored numerous pictures of our favorite summer activities, like camping, flying kites, playing baseball and building sand castles! Since our friends in Pre-K and PS are graduating this weekend we made both classes special cards to tell them CONGRATULATIONS! Also our class talked about our summer plans and what we want to do during the summer. Many of us want to go on a plane to Hawaii or Disneyland/World and visit Mickey! At the end of the week we made travel and deep sea collages and ended the week with a Hawaiian luau! Lastly, we have a friend turning THREE very soon!!! Can you guess who? He loves "Toy Story" and his parents make great cookies and coffee, that's right, our Mac is! He has come along way in class and has grown a lot! Happy Summer Fun to everyone at school! |
