Art - We did some really fun projects this week. We did a really cool picture of volcanos and dinosaurs, we also did, a dinosaur fossil dinosaur picture made out of noodles, and we cut out dinosaur footprints. Alex was so excited to put the dinosaur footprints in the classroom. Finally, the class followed Ms Lindsi directions and created a erupting volcano out of different writing strokes. Arianna and Sikha did such an amazing job following directions and writing the different strokes that made the erupting volcanos!!!

Ms Erin came a did the best project ever, We made tie-dye t-shirts with contrasting colors and amazing designs! The whole class loved it and had so much fun! Thank you Erin for your involvement and time in the class!!!

Math - We practiced counting and visually matching numbers 11-30. We counted pennies and putting the correct number matching the numbers on the baby jars. Gracie and Leah did such a great job counting and matching the numbers on the jars.

In Writing the letters of the week were Dd and Xx. We practice writing our letter Xx with paint and our fingers, we also traced the letter Dd with paint and put dots all around the letter because Dot starts with D. We also learned a song about letter D and X while making the letter with our bodies and friends.  Olive, Taj and Taylor loved make the letters with their bodies and partners!!!

In Reading we read Danny's Dinosaur, Digging for Dinosaurs, Dinosaur Days and The Dazzling Dinosaurs. The class has really enjoyed and embraced this weeks theme. I knew they enjoyed dinosaurs but I didn't know exactly how much the enjoyed them. It was really sweet how much the were into this theme.

In Science we made really cool historic volcanos and the kids thought that was the best thing ever!!! They loved the eruption of lava!

In music we did a fossil hunt while listening to music!!! They class love it and had so much fun!!

Prehistoric Times  Preschool Dinos

Prehistoric Times has been the theme this week and it has been great to just "dig" in to many great dinosaur activities.  (This is the theme Neil has been waiting for all year!)
We have loved stories such as The Dinosaur Stomp, Ten Little Dinosaurs, and How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight.  These books and others have been followed with  (and interrupted by) very loud roaring and snarling.  It is very scary to be surrounded by dinosaurs all day.  I have even had to guard my eggs from dinosaur Dylan K. and Dino Kaden. They keep eating them.  Neil also brought a book he wrote so we could read it at story time.  Thanks for the story Neil, we all enjoyed it.
In math, we added dinosaurs and Palmer especially enjoyed the math addition cards we used.  He asked for them to be read several times.  We also practiced patterns using dinosaurs.
In art, we made all kinds of great dino projects.  We made big T-Rex pictures and large dinosaur eggs.  We worked as teams to make Dino environments for our dinosaur figures to stomp through.  We used cardboard boxes, rocks, branches, sand glue and paint to construct the environments and they look super.
In science, we have a hatching dino egg.  It has been exciting to check the egg every morning and see what is going on.  Thanks again Neil for the egg.  We were paleontologists and spent some time digging in the dirt looking for fossilized dinos and bones.
Of course a lot of our movement activities have centered around Dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures movements.  We have moved with 2 feet like T-Rex, 4 feet like Anklyosaurus, flying like Pterodactyl or swimming like Ichthyosaurus.  Although Ellie was always a kitty.  I am sure she was a prehistoric kitty.
Happy Birthday to Dylan K.!  You are 4 now!  Dylan, we love the stories you tell and all the sweet things you say!  Happy Birthday, Buddy!

Prehistoric TimesDino Fun

It was back to Prehistoric Times for the Toddlers, as we ventured to the Cretaceous, Triassic and Jurassic Eras, visiting and studying different creatures that lived in those times.  From herbivores to carnivores, the kids had a DINO-mite week learning about the large and in charge, Dinosaurs!  We started our adventure by drawning our very own pit helmets so we were ready for those hot days digging up bones in the dirt and sand, just as a paleontologists would.  We then took it upon ourselves to grow our own dinosaurs by taking mini dinos and dropping them in water and watching them grow larger and larger during the week.  We painted various herbivores and added teeth to the scary mouth of T-Rex's. We made dinosaur collages and much much more!  We read the books: Dinosaurs, How a Dinosaur Says I Love You, Toddlersaurs and Billy and the Dinosaur.  It is great to see even our little ones enjoy the excitement of the extinct beasts!  They are quite fascinating.
Check out the progress on our new space!!!!
