Farm Animals
Writing - We continued to work on our letter sounds and really tried hard to start sounding out whole words, so we can start the beginning steps of reading books. We also wrote our own rhyming story as we worked on our rhyming skill sheet. The class loved being authors and being able to create their very own story. Our letters of the week were Ff and Aa. We practiced writing our letters of the week. We also practiced writing words that start with our letters of the week and words that had our letters of the week in them. The whole class did so great at sound out words and blending all the sounds together.
Math - The class worked on following different directions, i.e. counting to the left, counting to the right, stacking numbers up and stacking numbers down. We also worked on counting all the way to 50. The class is getting so good at transitioning from 10,20,30,40,50. One of our skill sheets talked about single, double, and triple scoops of ice cream, so we talked about what single, double and triple means, and of course we had to talk about what our favorite flavor of ice cream is. Dillon really understood what single, double and triple meant and he helped the class understand as well. Super cute!
Art - We moved right along in art. We made really cute lambs relaxing in a grassy field, made our own farm with a barn filled with farm animals. Olive's chicken laid so many eggs, Molly made very comfortable beds for each of her animals, Alex said, "We can't have a farm without a farmer" so he made a very cool farmer. We finally made really cool roosters with all different types of shapes, triangles, circles, rectangle, and squares and we made our own three little piggy illustrations.
Music - Music was very sweet, the song we learned was, "The Duck Song," it was to the tune of, "Skip to my Lou my Darling." The class really enjoyed being a duck and singing the song, while swimming in a pond. We practiced our crab walks, bear walks, played Follow the Leader, and worked in teams doing stretches and standing up and sitting down back to back. Molly and Olive became very good at going up and down together.
Reading - We always love storytime and the children have become very good at finishing the sentences in Dr. Seuss stories. We read "Sleeping on the Farm," "The Cat in the Hat," "Dooby Dooby Moo," and "I Saw it on Mulberry Street." Their favorite was definitely "Dooby Dooby Moo" about farm animals that go to the fair and enter a Talent Show.
The class did earn fun Friday and Logan was so kind to bring in a special movie from home, which they loved. The class watched a movie while being served popcorn and refreshments! |

EIEI...Oh what fun our Farm theme has been! We have had such a great time learning about farm animals. Jackson has shown us all of the farm animals that are living in the barn we made every day and makes sure we know what each of them are called and Brodie tells us about the farm animal posters on the wall about 5 times a day. This is a super exciting theme for many of the kids. We read some super funny books including Look Who's Talking on the Farm, Kiss the Cow, and See Me at the Farm. The kids just love to put their faces through and become the animals in the story See Me at the Farm. This is always followed by lots of laughter. Aren't laughing kid's the best?! We sang "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" and "Grandpa's Farm." You should hear Shea "Moo" and Dylan K's "Tock a Doodle Do!" In art, we have fingerpainted muddy pigs, put animals in a farm yard and built barns. We have really enjoyed the farm puzzles and farm magnet games this week also. Our letter of the week is a! Can you believe we have already made it back to a?! We are now focusing more on lower case letters and letter sounds. We painted with apples and practiced writing a. We did 2 "a" math projects this week. We counted animals and we decorated a's with ants. We also sang "The ants go marching." Ashleigh, Ashton, Aaren, Andy and Angie begin with an uppercase A. Jada, Shea, Tegan, Aaron, Haris, Jackson, Ryland, Rowan, Grace, Monica, Palmer, Pearl, Sebastian,Both Dylan's and Ms. Claudia have lower case a's in their names! Super big 4 year old birthday wishes go out to Ashton! Now we have to stop calling you a sweet little guy because you aren't so little anymore... (wiping tears from eyes). Next friday, March 19th is the last day of winter. So let's snuggle in and wish winter a fond farewell in our PJ's! We will have a great time being cozy and reading a few of our favorite winter stories one last time before we pack them away for next year. Please make sure your child has proper foot wear on so no one falls in the classroom due to slippery slipper feet. Thank you and I am SO excited!

Farm Animals
This week our Toddlers went to the farm and explored all the animals that reside there and more... We colored tractors, as a class we made a big red giant barn, constructed ducks and roosters (with our hand prints), and painted horses and pink piggies. Our class was full of mooos, quacks, oinks and baaaas. We read "The Big Red Barn," "Moo! Baaa! Oink! Quack!" "Arthur on the Farm," "Five Little Ducks" and "Farmer Mickey." We moved about to "Old Mac Donald" and "Little Pig." Also, this week we reviewed our shapes and colors. We are very proud of how quickly the kids pick up these concepts. Adam is so proud as he knows many of the shapes. Lastly, next week we'd liked to try and do something fun for St. Patrick's Day in our class, so feel free to bring in ideas (songs, art projects, yummies, etc.).
