Dillon was an amazing star student this week!

In math class we counted candy hearts, Taylor and Connor were experts! We did dot to dot and practiced writing  math addition problems and used counting cubes to help with understanding addition and subtraction. Alex and Aidan were so excited to be able to write a math problem.

In writing were practiced writing letters Ll and Vv. We also practice the letter sounds and words that start with L and V. It was really neat to hear the kids trying to sound out words and discover new words that start with L and V.  Logan and Gracie really did a great job with finding new words that start with L and V, ones we did not go over in class.

In art we made tons of fun Valentine projects; love-bug, heart butterfly, heart picture frame and we sent a special Valentine card to our pin-pals in Coos Bay.  Molly and Arianna loved decorating their love-bugs.

In reading we read, "Olive my Love," "My Special Valentine" and "Sending a Love Message."

In Music we sang, "I love you, you love me." They also practiced dancing and had fun with doing freeze dance.

Ms Stacy and I are so excited to announce the class reached 15 marbles, so the class has earned a really "Fun Friday." We get to watch a movie and have a super fun Valentines Party!!!

This week's "St. Valentine" theme, has been a great reason to talk about how much we love each other.  (Yes, the "warm-fuzzies" have been thick in our class this week!)  We have been starting our days with the "I love Somebody" song.  It is so cute to see the children's expressions when their names are called as who is loved.  What a happy, sweet way to start our day!  We read some very cute Valentine's stories including Froggy's First Kiss and Olive, My Love
In art, we enjoyed painting one hand white and one hand red, rubbing our hands together and Ta-Da...Pink!  Neil was very excited to do this neat trick. Palmer...not so much. He tried 3 times but decided that getting his hands painted was not such a good idea. We also turned ourselves into love-bugs by making antennae headbands.
We did heart math, this week.  The kids took turns holding the hearts up for the group to see and we practiced adding and taking away hearts.  The kids had fun standing in front of the group to help.  Dylan K. was very proud to have his turn and did such a good job holding up his hearts so all could see.
Our letter was W.  Wow!  We really enjoyed Wiggling and Walking to celebrate W!  We glued worms (gummies) to our W and even tasted a few.  We played wiggle worms and painted W's with watercolor paints.
We are very excited to welcome Brodie to our class this week!  Super Duper first day Brodie!
We also want to thank Ashton for sharing his mommy with us this week!  Ms. Bonnie read Give Me Half (a great book teaching the concept of half and about sharing) and No Bows!  Tuttie Frutti will forever be just a little bit funnier to me now.
Also a big Thanks to Soleil and her mom, Ms. Erin, for the super duper fun Ice Cream Social with the Pre-k class.  So fun!  So delicious!  And all of those big pink sprinkle chocolate syrup smiles were beautiful!

Love is in the air this week in the Toddler Class.  From stories about Valentine's Day to giving our friends in class special hugs and high fives to show them how special they are. We read the books "Sweet Hearts," "Guess How Much I Love You, " "Love and Kisses" and "I Love You Because You're You" (a personal favorite of Parker's).  All of friends decorate their very own Valentine's Day red baskets for their Valentines.  We also made silly, but cute love-bugs and Valentine's Day frames for the kids to present to their parents for the day of love.  Along with the frames we also made special heart hand print gifts and did heart doilie art work.   We talked about less than and greater than.  Like, "Mac has more water than Adam."  Our friend Hailey came back this week to class and it was great to see her smile and sparkling eyes again in our classroom.  Welcome back Hailey!  Happy Valentine's Day to all friends and families of the Peake Academy - PLAY Boutique!
