Polar Animals
In writing we worked on letters B & P. We talked about all the words that start with our letters of the week. Taj came up with a great b word on his own " bridge" and Olive came up with "play boutique" all on her own. She said she gets double points for using b and p:) We also worked on rhyming and creating rhyming words, like... cat, hat, mat, and sat.
In math we worked on sorting objects and learning about money. The class was so excited to work with money! On one of our skill sheets they had to count the right amount of money to buy things and the class thought that was so "cool"! Taylor and Molly loved to learn about all the different types of coins.
In reading Ms. Stacy read to the class, "The Littlest Owl," "Save the Polar Bear," and "The Artic Fox."
In art we were busy. We made a picture of penguins having fun in their habitat. Connor's picture was so cute, each penguin had one friend they were playing with. He said everyone needs a friend! We also made sparkly icicles, moose paper bag puppets, cotton ball polar bears and pine cone penguins.
In music we did parachute fun, follow the leader and music yoga.:)
We had a great week in Pre-K.

Polar Animals
This week's Polar Animal theme has been awesome! I love to see the kids walking like penguins around the room. Dylan M.'s penguin walk is so great and Pearl has spent a lot of time being a reindeer since Christmas so she fits right into our polar theme. We have read some very funny penguin books like Where's my Mommy?, The Penguin Who Wanted To Fly, and I Want to Be Your Personal Penguin. Andy really liked the personal penguin story because I sing it and I am really glad someone appreciates my singing! We also read some very informative polar animal books such as Polar Animal Babies, and What Polar Animals Eat. We made some really cute penguins in art and during Spanish class. For art, we also made south pole pictures by tearing paper and gluing it onto the water paper to make an icy environment for penguins. Tearing paper (on purpose) is tricky to do and a very good small motor activity. Ollie's paper tearing face was very funny-but it did the trick and he tore with little problem! We also made some nice furry polar bears. We had a great time playing with shaving cream "snow" this week. It was fun to just squish, smoosh and rub it but it was also great to practice writing and drawing in. Great job Kristin for writing so many names in the shaving cream. Neil, Bodie and Dylan K. enjoyed just walking around and around the table making finger "tracks" in it. Our letter this week was S! Soleil starts with S!! Shea starts with S!! We made snowy S's, sparkly S's and we made S's into Snakes by using Snake Skin Squares (do you hear all of those S sounds?!). We also practiced our scissor skills. There are 4 S's in scissors! That's Super!!!!
Happy Happy Birthday to Pearl! You are 4 now, sweet girl! Thanks to all the families who have been helping with classroom projects and bringing in goodies like cardboard and stamps! Everyone have a great weekend! See you next week!

Polar Animals
We had so much fun exploring polar animals. For Creative Art we colored puffin birds, made polar bears out of paper plates and paper cups and did a super fun walrus sponge art. We also got crazy with streamer art. We read "Polar Bears in Danger," "What Polar Animals Eat," and "How Polar Animals Hide." We also practiced sorting. We sorted items by whether they made a loud or a soft sound. In class we talked to about the opposites, hot/cold and happy/sad. We ended the week with super fun polar animal dancing. What a great week! | |
