Art: Ms. Mary Sue, Connor's mom brought all the goodies to make gingerbread houses. The kids loved it. The kids loved taking sneak tastes of the frosting. We also made a special present for our families to enjoy for Christmas. Shhh It's a surprise! We made hand print and feet print reindeer. Sikha and Zoi loved tracing their feet. They said it tickled! We also made peppermint candy poems. Finally the kids loved making a Santa puppet.

Math: We reviewed writing our numbers 1-10, we worked on subtraction; all week we kept track of how many days until winter. Each day we would work on a subtraction problem. We also worked on adding and reviewed the subtraction, addition, and equal signs.

Writing: This week we worked on the letters, k and J. Aidan, Arianna and Caden's k's were awesome!!!

Reading: The kids loved the stories this week. We read, The Night Before Christmas, The Gingerbread Man, Penguin Pete, and Christmas Story.

Music: Ms. Stacy is doing such great job with music. The kids are loving the popcorn game, they went on a great sleigh ride and sang Jingle-bells. We also sang, Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

We had so much fun at our holiday party. Santa came to Ms. Lindsi's house and dropped off a little stocking filled with goodies. They are in their friday folders.

Leah was an amazing Star Student this week!

The preschool class has really been in the holiday spirit this week!  The kids have loved singing songs such as Rudolf the Red-nosed Reindeer (Ellie and her sister, Zoi, doing this as a duet is precious), Jingle Bells, Frosty the Snowman and The Dreidel Song.  In art, we have "sewed" stockings, made Santa puppets and decorated Christmas trees.  In math, we counted Chanukah candles, candy canes and octopus legs (octopus begins with our letter of the week O!)  We practiced moving our bodies like reindeer.  Some reindeer gallop and Santa's reindeer fly of course. In preschool, reindeer also turn into lions, spidermen and other various creatures.  Ashleigh decided she should be a horse instead and did do some great galloping.
This week's letter O has been fun.  We learned a song about an octopus and worked on an ocean puzzle.  We are so proud of the way Dylan M., Tegan, Ollie and Soleil worked together to get it done.  Good job kids!
A really big Thank You goes out to Ms. Susan (Monica's nanny) for spending an hour teaching us about Chanukah.  She read us stories, showed us her menorah, sang the dreidel song with us and taught us how to play the dreidel game (SO MUCH FUN!!)  And all the kids got to go home with some Chanukah gelt!  It was a great learning experience for all of us.
Welcome back to Pearl!  We missed you and it is so nice to have you back!
And last, but not least, a big heartfelt "See you later" to Ms. Catherine.  We have enjoyed having your big smile and loving heart with us!  We will miss you and wish you and your family the best of luck!   We love you!

It's our favorite time of year in the Toddler Class, and this week we continued to explore the various ways people celebrate December, like: Christmas, Kwanzaa and Chanukah.  For Christmas we decorated gingerbread men, made Christmas trees, angels and winter mittens.  To recognize Chanukah we colored dreidels and Stars of David.  For Kwanzaa  we made our own Kwanzaa place cards with corn and all.  We also read some great books, such as "Biscuit's Pet & Play Christmas," "The Snowy Day" and "Olive The Other Reindeer."  Also, we wished our dear Teacher Judy a wonderful birthday on Thursday.  We love you Ms. Judy!  We also said our dear good byes to our friendly teacher in Pre-School, Ms Catherine.  We will miss you dearly!
