Pre-Kindergarten with Ms. Lindsi & Ms. Danaye
 Dillon and LoganThanksgiving

We are learning about Thanksgiving this week.  The kids have told us about so many things that they are thankful for and we made special framed poems to remind us of them.  Miss Lindsi and Miss Danaye's favorite was Caden's "I am thankful for the cable guy!"  How cute :)

We learned about the pilgrims and how they worked together with the Native Americans to create the first Thanksgiving. The Native Americans helped the Pilgrims grow vegetables and hunt. We also learned about the different things in a pilgrim's village that you would find (like candles and farm animals) and things you wouldn't find (like cell phones and electricity).

We read the books Thanksgiving Mice, Happy Thanksgiving!, The Plump and Perky Turkey, and The Night Before Thanksgiving.  We created many special art projects including sparkle-eyed turkeys, scratch & sniff apple pies, and cork turkey table toppers.  Our letter of the week was "Tt" for Thanksgiving, turkeys, and our friends Taj, Taylor, and Tanner.  We also reviewed letter "Gg" for giving even though we have studied this letter already.  What a great, but very short week!  We got a lot accomplished :)

This week's Thanksgiving theme has been such a fun way to spend time talking about things that we are thankful for.  It's fun to hear all of the wonderful and silly things that kids appreciate about their lives.  It's also very heartwarming to hear how much they all love their families, friends and school.  We spent a lot of time "talkin' turkey" too!  We read stories like Ten Fat Turkeys, 'Twas the night before Thanksgiving, and Thanks for Thanksgiving.  We made handprint turkeys (it's a Thanksgiving preshool classic, isn't it?!), put together turkey puzzles, and colored turkeys.  But our favorite turkey activity by far was doing the Turkey Pokey!  If your child has not shown you yet, ask them to because it's so great.  I love it when they all shake their waddles and turkey tails!  So Funny!
Our letter this week is L.  L for L.J. and Lou!  We painted leaves, made lace pictures and climbed the tape ladder on the floor.  Some of my favorite L words are Love and Laugh.  So we practiced doing both of those things too!

ThanksgivingToddlers

This week in Toddlers we talked about Thanksgiving and all things involved.  We made art-deco like turkey hand prints, pilgrim puppets and even painted corn for a cornacopia.  We read Clifford's "Giving Thanks" and "The Turkey Ball."  The children shared what they are thankful for, most of which said, "my mom and my dad."   However, Mac said he is thankful for, "Hannah Montana."  We thank the parents that have brought in their children's favorite recipes thus far for our Class Cookbook.  It's great seeing all the kids favorite dishes! We wish everyone in our class a Happy Thanksgiving and we are VERY thankful for having all our students and their parents in our lives.  You make our lives ever so much more enjoyable!
