Exploring Our World
In Social Studies, we explored the 7 continents and different ways to say
hello to our friends in their language.
We also learned in science about all the different animals and
habitats around the world, panda bears from Asia, kangaroos from Australia, Blue
whales from Antarctica, and elephants from Africa. Olive wrote the word
elephant terrifically.
In math Ms. Danaye's group focused on the number one and started our fall
leaf count down books. Ms. Lindsi's group focused on matching numbers with the
right groupings that equal the numbers. We also practiced writing our numbers
1-10.
In writing we focused on the letter of the week, Xx and all the words that
start with X and have a X in them.
In music we learned the song "Oh do you know the continents..." Taj and
Rowan really enjoyed learning and singing this song!
And our
star student this week was... drumroll please... Zoi!!!

Exploring Our World
We had a great time "Exploring our World" this week!
We went to Africa to learn about some of the animals that live there.
Zebras and lions are very popular in our class. We went to Australia to
learn about how cool Platapuses are.
We also made our own cute little platapuses in art. We took an adventure ride with Max in the story
Where the Wild Things Are. It was not long before we had a whole class
full of wild things. I think Mr. Wizer at Wizer's grocery store could hear our
"Terrible Roars" and I know seeing all the "wild things'" terrible claws
was very very scary! Ellie's scary "wild thing" face was super duper scary!
Yikes!
We read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and took a trip out to Chicka Chicka
Boom Boom Island. It's a long trip.
Luckily, we have great imaginations and took a car and a train and then a
plane and a row boat out to the island.
We enjoyed a little Chicka Chicka Boom Boom art as well.
In art this
week, we also made an Adventure Mural, and did wax resist (crayon and then watercolor paint) haunted houses and painted some fall
leaves.
Our letter of the week is E. E for Ellie and elephant and
eggs. We had fun with plastic eggs in the dramatic play area. Matching up the egg halves and
being
able to snap them together was a little bit tricky. Cooking with the eggs and
hiding them from each other was a lot of fun. We learned The Elephant Song. That is such a good one. We get to yell for the elephants to come
to play. It isn't often we get to yell in class, so that is so fun. Dylan
Kellington does it with gusto! We talked about what enormous means and so Ashton has asked
several times throughout the week, "Now, what does enormous mean?" We also have counted to eleven lots of times this week because
eleven begins with e!!!
And just a cute little story to sum it all up
and I couldn't agree more...
Wyatt asks "What day is it?"
So Ms. Angie says "It's Wednesday. Wednesday is your school
day."
Wyatt responds with "I like school day!"

Exploring Our World
Our week of exploring:
Our class discovered the Eiffle Tower (Europe) and talked about oceans. We did a fun rice
wand chopstick collage (Asia) and counted continents. We colored and acted like
kangaroos (Australia) by jumping up and down. We also acted like safari animals of Africa. The class made compasses and talked about directions, N-S-E &
W. We explored fun books and music from around the world.
