Greetings!

In the whirlwind of day-to-day tasks, it's hard to keep up with the latest thon fundraising news.

For years we've shared this information via our website, this newsletter, lively discussions on LinkedIn, tidbits on Twitter and of course our popular live monthly webinars and library of recordings.

Light bulb

This month we're adding easy-to-read summaries of the key points made during webinars.

Missed this month's session on increasing fundraising by using data before, during and after your events?  Simply check out the short article on our website or, if you'd like to listen to the whole webinar, here's a link to the recording, which is free thanks to Charity Dynamics, the session's sponsor.

Please let us know if there are other ways we can be of service - and good luck with your fall campaigns and events!

New Study Shows 'Thon' Programs Offer Powerful Benefits for Corporate Sponsors

Demonstrating value for corporate sponsors has relied upon so-called 'hard' measurements like event attendance, viewership and overall awareness. A new Canadian study, conducted by Ipsos Reid and TrojanOne, identifies seven key drivers of consumer sponsorship equity, which for the first time values the emotional connection a sponsor can create with consumers. The Canadian Cancer Society and its signature fundraising event, Relay For Life, were identified as Canada's "MVP" achieving strong scores across six of the seven key drivers of value.

Walks, runs, relays and rides are particularly well-suited to leverage the three most important drivers to demonstrate their value to corporate sponsors

According to the study, the three most important drivers to measure emotional connection are:

  • Personal Involvement - Participants connect to the event and the sponsor on a personal level. Participation in the event may have touched them in some way, improved their lives or led them to change behavior.
  • Creating the Moment - The event adds enjoyment and passion to their lives, helping create lasting memories and connect with others.
  • Impact on the Cause - Participants trusting the organization to use their contributions of money, time and energy to have a real impact on making their community, or the world, a better place.

Run Walk Ride Fundraising Council recently caught up with Jordan Levitin, Senior Vice President at Ipsos Reid, to discuss how you can increase corporate sponsorship dollars by demonstrating how your fundraising events create an emotional connection.

Join us on Thursday, October 25 at 1:30pm EST as Jeff Shuck, president and CEO of Event 360, shares some tales from the front and some advice for moving forward.

In advance of our October webinar, Event360 recommends five proven things that you can do to boost revenue from your events including:

Bump up the suggested donation giving levels on your donation form. Event360 found that by changing the preset amount on organization's websites from $25 to $35, the percentage of donors choosing $25 fell 10%, but the percentage of donors choosing $35 increased 13%. So, 10% of event donors suddenly gave 10% more just by making this small change!
