Greetings!
Reporters love to ask me: "Are there too many thon fundraising events?"
Whether or not there are "too many" is a value judgment, but clearly the field is getting crowded. Increasingly, I've noticed, real and virtual corporate-driven events are coming into the mix.
Earlier this month, for example, there was a big ramp up of activity by Pushups for Charity, a program raising money for The Boot Campaign, a group that supports injured veterans. Pushups for Charity was created by NPE, an Orlando firm that advises trainers on how expand their businesses.
Tying into the upcoming Olympics over in England, Samsung launched the virtual Hope Relay. The electronics giant will donate a pound to one of three charities for each mile covered by consumers who download and record their activity using a mobile phone app.
