November 2011

Greetings!

We take the business of thon fundraising seriously here at the Run Walk Ride Fundraising Council, but every once in a while this field cracks me up.

Over the years I've reported to you on gorilla runs, undy runs, zombie walks and walks for men wearing heels, but it wasn't until today that I learned about Nun Runs.

Apparently a growing number of Catholic charities have discovered the power of peer-to-peer fundraising.

The Little Sisters of the Poor held their fifth annual Nun Run 5K in Newark, Delaware in September.

In Phoenix preparations are under way for

the third annual Nun Run 10K supporting Our Lady of Solitude.

Amazing!   Wishing you all a blessed Thanksgiving.

ING NYC Marathon Posts Big Numbers -- Toronto Hit by Marathon Wars

Good news out of New York: Charity programs associated with the ING New York City Marathon raised a record $34 million+ for the 210 official charities and 180  unofficial charities tracked by the New York Road Runners.

With the economy in such lousy shape, it's amazing to see such numbers posted.   Lets hope that politics and competing event organizers don't get in the way.

It could happen.  The Toronto Star reports that "marathon wars" have broken out in that city over dates on which to hold major road races.

Be on the Lookout for RWR 30 Surveys
Amy BlogIt's easy to tell that thon fundraisers are in strategic planning mode: We've received a major uptick in requests for our Run Walk Ride Thirty survey data.

It's the industry's only published data comparing revenue and participation rates for the major peer-to-peer fundraising progams.   Never seen it?   Click here for last year's summary.

We'll be sending out surveys soon.   Please email us at info@runwalkride.com if your group has not been included in the past and you'd like to be added in.

There are many ways to bring these statistics to life.   Event 360, the study's sponsor, recently published a series of terrific infographics including this depiction of the top 10 programs.
