WalkAmerica is now March for Babies
In spite of the fact that the March of Dimes' mammoth walk series raised $117 million last year management knew it had an identity problem.
"We had gotten to the point where people walking in Walk America didn't necessarily know why they were walking," MOD President Jennifer Howse told The New York Times. "They were there because someone they care about or someone at their office had asked them to walk."

ADA Rebrands & Creates New Event
The new brand "has a wider appeal and a fresh look enabling us to reach new audiences" according to an ADA press release.
Last year the ADA created Step Up to Fight Diabetes, a 10-mile walk in Philadelphia that involved climbing 1,000 stairs. Each participant was challenged to raise a minimum of $1,000. Launched with a goal of raising $1,000,000, the program brought in $600,000. |
CCFA Enters Endurance Training Arena
The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation has launched Team Challenge, its entry into the fast-growing field of endurance event training programs.
Focused on creating teams to participate in half marathons, CCFA's approach was tested at the San Jose Rock & Roll Half Marathon last year and participated in the Miami Half Marathon in January. Next in Team Challenge's sites: The Napa to Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon.
"The program helps people accomplish personal goals while helping others," says Staci Brown, National Events Director for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation. "Whether it be to get in shape for the new year, to meet new friends, or to travel someplace they've been dreaming about." |
