RUN WALK RIDE SUCCESS
January 2008

Greetings!

If you lead an athletic fundraising event program that grosses $5 million+ you should have recently received an email with our 2007 industry survey.

We'll use the results to develop the 2nd annual Run Walk Ride 30 ranking, the only study tracking the diverse athletic event fundraising sector.

If you've not explored this great benchmarking tool visit the research area of our website.  If you'd like to receive a copy of the survey questionaire, please reply to this newsletter and we'll be glad to send you one.

Ready, set, read on!

Participants Worth Their Weight in GoldPink Beard Barry
Participants who raise $100 are common.  The $1,000+ group are fabulous.  And then there are the megaparticipants, the ones who raise a lot of money through participation in one or more of your events.

We recently learned of one such fellow -- they call him "pink beard Barry". Barry Blauer has raised approximately $70,000 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure by walking in 28 three-day breast cancer walks covering 1,680 miles!

"Blauer's dedication and commitment are an encouragement to others,Jenne Fromm, national spokeswoman for the Breast Cancer 3-Day told the Observer & Eccentric newspaper. "(Those who walked with him) always left his presence ... with a renewed sense of purpose," she said. "What being with Barry, and other walkers like him, does is make you realize just how much is possible. It makes you think, 'Gosh, if he can walk that far and raise those kinds of funds, then surely I can do this too.'"

Have you been successful in attracting megaparticipants?  Please share your stories with me by replying to this email.
