Beachgoers Applaud New Parks Appointment
|
 The
National Park Service has hired a new leader for the Canaveral National
Seashore in Florida.
Myrna Palfrey-Perez will take over as park superintendent for the 24-mile
stretch of seashore that crosses Brevard and Volusia counties. Friends of Playalinda Beach,
a naturist group that frequents the area north of the northernmost dune
crossover in Brevard
County, welcomed the new
park superintendent. The group clashed with former superintendent Carol Clark
over nudity on that area of the beach. Although federal and state laws
banning simple nudity have been overturned, a Brevard County
ordinance bans it. Friends of Playalinda president Robert Allen plans to meet
with Palfrey-Perez and ask her to review the history between nudists and the
beach.

Swiss Clothing-Optional Activities Lure Travelers
|
Zurich, Switzerland, welcomes millions of visitors each year and many
are interested in places where they can engage
in clothing-optional activities. Fortunately, in warm weather, the city
operates two public beaches with designated areas for nude swimming: Strandbad
Tiefenbrunnen and Seebad Katzensee. Another popular location is Werdinsel Zurich, an island in the city. When it's too cold to swim outdoors, travelers
flock to Asia Spa for a traditional Asian sauna and refreshing
splash pool.

In the last issue, we reported that police planned to charge Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias with indecent exposure if he skied nude on Key Biscayne off the coast of Florida. Iglesias had announced that if Spain won its first soccer World Cup he would "ski naked" to celebrate. Apparently, Iglesias kept his word after the win with a nude night ski. TMZ.com has footage of the stunt they say was completed at the end of July.
