Help Get A Nude Beach
|
Years ago,
there was a nude zone on the Maryland
portion of the Assateague National Seashore. AANR and AANR-East have been
working to restore it. Now is the time that you can help most.
The
seashore is revising its General Management Plan (GMP) and is taking comments from
the public. If enough people write an e-mail requesting a nude beach, officials
will consider it in the plan.
Please send
a polite message right now to the
Assateague Island GMP Team (ASIS_GMP@nps.gov). Tell them who
you are and why nudity is important to you. If you're from Virginia
or Maryland,
be sure to include that information in your e-mail, but all are invited to
write because we all pay federal taxes.
Let's
really pour on the messages so that AANR's credible voice of reason for nude
recreation can be heard.

Nude Jolie Statue Promotes Public Breastfeeding
|
A
controversial nude Angelina Jolie statue was unveiled last week at the Mainsite
Contemporary Art Gallery in Norman, Oklahoma.
New York City
artist Daniel Edwards' work, "Landmark for Breastfeeding," features a nude
Angelina Jolie breastfeeding two babies. The message behind the statue is
geared toward the negative stigma of public breastfeeding. In a statement, Cory
Allen, the project coordinator, says, "People have a problem separating nudity
and sexuality, and it's just a human form, so I don't see any problem with it."

Nude Beach A Health Bonus

 British Naturism is backing proposals to formally designate a section of a popular beach as
clothing-optional for nudists at Seaton Carew, in Hartlepool.
The group told officials that there are several bonuses linked to nudist
beaches, and naturism is associated with lower teenage pregnancy rates and
fewer cases of eating disorders. Brian Taylor, a spokesman for the organization,
said: "A common misconception is that naturism is not family-friendly
where the truth is quite the opposite. There is strong evidence that naturism
promotes a healthier body image in children and is associated with lower
teenage pregnancy rates and fewer cases of eating disorders." So far, the
majority of feedback has been positive. The council plans to meet to discuss
the proposal.

Why Your AANR Membership Matters
|
 Every year,
local and state legislation is proposed that would negatively impact your right
to be nude, even in appropriate settings. At the federal level traditional nude
use of public lands and beaches is often threatened.
Your AANR
public relations, government affairs, and legal teams do a wonderful job
dealing with these challenges so you can enjoy nude recreation in the carefree
manner you deserve, but without their work we would quickly start losing
ground. Without your membership dollars those efforts will cease. If you love
nude recreation, your membership truly matters. I know mine does.
