Greetings!
Welcome to the gr May newsletter for teachers!
This month we review some fantastic books for younger readers, suggest activities for the whole class to enjoy and we have some great competitions.
As always, we have some great resources for teachers on the website including hundreds of free teaching notes for you to use.
If you have any suggestions for other teachers or for using gr in the classroom, please feel free to contact us. We always love to hear from our readers! Happy reading! The gr Team. |

up close
In this month's magazine we talk to Patrick Ness, author of the 'Chaos Walking' series for young adults. Patrick discusses the controversy around the darker aspects of his novels as well as the importance of embracing differences: a theme particularly close to his heart. The third book of the series, Monsters of Men has just been released. |

may project
In the May issue of gr we feature an extract from World Ocean Census by Darlene Trew Crist, Gail Scowcroft and James M Harding Jr. This book a brilliant compilation of observations scientists made during the Census of Marine Life and is full of fantastic and often bizarre photographs. My personal favourite is the yeti crab! This is a fabulous book for the classroom and we've included a teacher's guide for planning your own research project for the whole class.
