Greetings!
Okay, I don't want to make those of you that didn't join us this weekend in Petaluma feel bad, so I won't tell you about the amazing sail we had. I won't brag about how incredibly picturesque the Petaluma River is and how relaxing it is to meander up through its twists and turns. I won't tell you about all the laughing, merriment and frolicking. And I certainly won't tell you that it was one of those magical, delightful weekends where friendship and camaraderie fill the air with easy relaxation. Nope, I wouldn't want you to feel bad about missing out.
Seriously though, the trip was so simple, yet so much fun. We didn't end up engaging in any water battles, but we did have roving cocktail parties, dinghy rides, mani-pedis, plane rides, walking tours, dancing on the bow, yoga on the bow, music festivaling and late night revelers. The catamaran was the perfect boat for party central. At one point we had so many people on board that the bottom steps were underwater (photos below).
While we did it in a group, it reminded each one of us just how easy this stuff is and how rewarding it can be. With a little navigation planning and some research, your own magical weekend is just right around the corner. What are you waiting for? NOTE: The deadline for sign-ups on our Delta Rendezvous is this Friday.

BEST WISHES TO DANIEL!

We're sorry to announce that Daniel Glennon, who has served as a Membership Director at Club Nautique for nine years, has left the club for health reasons. Relaxation certainly agrees with him. He is looking more and more healthy and is doing just fine, but the doctor has recommended very minimal exertion.
We'll miss Daniel's love for sailing and his enthusiastic efforts to share the lifestyle with everyone he met. We're keeping our fingers crossed that he can one day return to the Club Nautique family.
We'll be happy to pass along your well wishes.

Over the July 4th weekend, Jerry, Club Nautique's Fleet Manager shared his vacation and introduced us to an incredible guided journey into the delta. We started with a 70 mile downwind ride into the San Joaquin Delta ending Day 1 at the submerged Mildred Island. Day 2 was perfection...spent swimming and playing in the water . . . eating . . . drinking . . . napping. Day 3 we headed to the Stockton Sailing Club - gorgeous! People there were fun, friendly and a hoot to talk with . . . with a spectacular view of the river to boot! We moved back to Mandeville Island for an overnight anchor with Day 4 being an incredible upwind return home. If you are looking for great sailing, beautiful scenery, incredible waters and sunsets, I encourage you to explore the delta. An awesome trip!" - Thoraya Halhoul who spent 4th of July Weekend in the Delta.

NOGGIN BOGGLER WINNER
We selected a winner from the entries submitted. Thank you to all who participated but ultimately we can only have one winner.
Congratulations Cindy Paternellis for winning last week's challenge! Cindy will receive an attractive Club Nautique hat of her choice.
QUESTION:
What is the well known formula for solving speed, time and distance problems in navigation? How far would you travel in 2 hours and 30 minutes cruising at 6 knots - with no outside influence involved, of course?
ANSWER:
60*D/S*T, otherwise remembered as "60 D Street", where D=Distance, S=Speed and T=Time in minutes
In 2 1/2 hours at 6 knots with no other influences, you would travel 15 nautical miles.

CLUB NAUTIQUE NEEDS NEW BOATS!
Would you like to own a new sail or power boat and use charter income and income tax savings to help pay for it? If this concept is interesting to you, let us share a few amazing statistics with you. Belle Soeurs, our new Beneteau 34, which is owned by a retired Big 4 accounting firm partner, has broken every record ever set by a new boat in our fleet. In her first 3 months in the fleet, she chartered at an annual rate of 164 days. As of this writing, she has 25 days of reservations on the books and she's just getting warmed up. Most members haven't even seen her yet (she's rarely sitting in her slip to be seen), let alone had the opportunity to sail her.
To put this in perspective, most boats create positive cash flow with 50-75 days of charter per year. Belle Soeurs is more than doubling that! Want some more good reasons to put a boat in the fleet now? Here are just a few major reasons:
- Our fleet is older than it's ever been and we need to bring in new boats & move old ones out.
- Boat loan interest rates are the lowest they've been in history. We just did a charter boat loan at 4.25% fixed for 15 years with no points, fees, or penalties.
- There are a limited number of Beneteaus in factory inventory on sale with factory discounts up to $26,500. These boats are 2012 hull numbers at 2011 pricing.
- The America's Cup is coming to San Francisco Bay. What do you think that's going to do to charter activity?
- If you have a large bonus or want to exercise stock options in 2011 and shelter them from taxes, you can write off up to 100% of the boat purchase this year. This option expires on 12/31/11. This write off is not subject to alternative minimum tax calculations!
- Charter boat owners get free memberships and free dues and of course, they don't pay to sail their own boats.
- If you want the tax benefits in 2011, you must take delivery in 2011 and for some models, deliveries are close to year end. It's time to get your order in now.
There are more good reasons, but you get the idea. If you'd like detailed information on how this can work for YOU, contact Jerry, Dave, or Don, today!
