BENETEAU 40 ARRIVES
CAUGHT ON CAMERA
Greetings!

If this issue isn't up to our excellent standards, it's because Marianne is off for the next two weeks conducting primary research cruising the Chesapeake. The things we have to do around here are just over the top sometimes!

Wow! Could we have had any better weather for the Independence Day weekend? Hope you found time to get out on the water and enjoy it to the max! Some Alameda staff and members raced Eureka! in the BBYC Friday Griller Race on the 1st and were treated to a rare shirtsleeve evening on the bay. Unfortunately, that meant the winds were too light to drive Eureka!'s 30,000+ displacement to a winning position, but we had fun (really the whole point) and got a chance to practice with the chute in light air.

If you miss Marianne's friendly face around the club while she's away, we have a full immersion program at the ready. She's the chief organizer of the Petaluma River Cruise, which is just one month away, August 5-7. If you've already been to Petaluma, you know what a great destination it is. If you haven't, get your crew together and reserve your boat. It's a terrific long weekend cruise and well within the capabilities of anyone with a Basic Cruising certification or better, especially going with a group. Check out the feature block below and get signed up today!

TODAYS TIP!

Todays TipMake sure your crew stays cool and hydrated on hot days.

As a good Captain you should ensure that your crew is safe. Keep an eye on folks on hot summer days. Be sure that they have plenty of water to stay hydrated and suggest a hat with large brim for shade. You may also want to remind your crew that layers are key. A nice light-weight, long-sleeve shirt is great to keep you safe from long exposure to direct sunlight.

A fancy hat like the one pictured can keep the sun off your neck because you might NOT want to be a redneck. We're just sayin.

NOGGIN BOGGLER WINNER!

There were some great ideas. Thank you all for playing. Our non-scientific selection process was a vote of those of us working in the Alameda office on July 4th. And the winner is... Guppy, submitted by Elle Ghini and Jim Bock. Congratulations to Elle & Jim who must have gone through at least one bottle of wine to come up with all the entries they submitted! How perfect - their prize is a bottle of Champagne.

Thanks so much to David and Yuri for their efforts and great work!

NEW BENETEAU 40, MYSTIQUE, ARRIVES

Last Friday, Mike Piech's new Beneteau 40 arrived at the boat yard and our commissioning crew is now furiously working away (even as this is written on this holiday weekend!) to prepare her for entry into the Sausalito fleet. She is a 3 stateroom, 2 head configuration with gorgeous hardwood decks and will be equipped for the ocean. Here are some photos taken on her arrival day for those who want a sneak peak.

P.S. Beneteau has a limited number of boats in inventory on sale right now. Contact Don at 510-865-4700 x305 or

email if you would like information on how you can own one of these boats and use charter income and tax savings to help pay for it.
