Greetings! As holidays go, 4th of July rivals Thanksgiving for my favorite. You don't have to purchase gifts, it's all about celebration and community and to top it off, you get treated to free fireworks! In our family there is an abundance of boating, food, drink, laughter and joy. I have memories of bobbing around on boats, waving sparklers in the balmy night air and singing patriotic tunes as the night sky lights up with thunderous enthusiasm. Those are the moments that strengthen tradition and create bonds.
I hope you get to enjoy fireworks, boating, Cousin Beth's famous crab dip (or your family's equivalent), parades that have Shriners in boat-shaped go-carts and people on floats that throw candy and treats to kids along the route. And I hope that you get to enjoy sharing lasting memories with your family watching a colorful and patriotic display of fireworks while bobbing about on a boat. God Bless America, indeed! |

TODAYS TIP!
If you challenge yourself, you'll improve your skills!
We know staying in your comfort zone is a warm and fuzzy place to be, but if you never challenge yourself how can you expect to improve? Start by trying to step out of your box while other sailors are on the boat or tag along on one of our flotillas. You'll be amazed at just how easy and fun this stuff can be!

CPM CORNER!
This past week we ran a 5 day Coastal Passage Making with each student sitting for two positions. We're happy to report that everyone passed with flying colors and the crew was thrilled with their adventure. Our gentleman Captain, Aki Kaniel, headed the charge. Congratulations to passing Skippers Chris Hagen and Dwayne Sullivan - they only have to complete their tag-along voyages and they'll get that coveted CPM sticker! Well done you two! Renee Kiml and Sebastian de Halleux successfully completed their Navigation requirement having passed both Jr. Navigator and Navigator. Way to go you guys! And Mark Berenson completed his Crew and Jr. Navigator requirement. Congratulations Mark. We know how much hard work goes into these classes and we're so proud of your accomplishment.
Sebastian sent in these great photos of their adventure. Thanks Sebastian!
