Greetings!

Patriotic military songs remind us to take pride in our country and the men and women who risk their lives to keep us safe. Take a moment and watch this montage of theme songs for our American Armed forces. It sure to put you in the mood to come and join us this Sunday, May 15th to help root on your favorite branch of the military at our American Armed Forces Cup.

In keeping with the celebration of our men and women in the military, we hope you have plans to enjoy Memorial Day weekend. There are still plenty of spaces on the In the Bay Cruise and we can still find interested parties a cabin on our Coastal Adventure. Give us a call and get on the boat.

This members-only event is one of our favorites! Sign up for a sail with fellow club mates and head out for an exhilarating sail then back to the clubhouse for a BBQ and socializing.

Skippers are assigned to boats on a first come/first served basis
Members must be present to be assigned to a boat
All boats are cleared to depart the dock no later than 6pm

For two years running the Coast Guard has reigned victorious. This year, the Army has set its sights on the trophy, the Navy is planning to take command, the Marines are gunning for first place, the Air Force is planning to obliterate the competition! It's always fun to root for the guys and gals that serve in our American Armed Forces. We hope you plan to come out and join with us in appreciation of their service.

STAN HONEY TALKS LONGPAC TACTICS AT OAKLAND YACHT CLUB

Stan Honey is best known for the creation of that magical line on your television that pans across the football field to show you the first down mark. Stan is also destined to be a sailing super-hero as he is developing similar technology to give viewers a better experience for the America's Cup. Stan is also an excellent tactician and will be giving a talk on tactics for the LongPac on Thursday, May 12th at 7:30pm at the Oakland Yacht Club. Stan was recently awarded the 2010 Rolex Yachtsman of the Year for his work as navigator on Groupama 3. Groupama 3 set the record for fastest time around the planet at 48 days, seven hours and 45 minutes. He was also the winning navigator aboard ABN Amro One in the 2006 Volvo Ocean race. Closer to home, Stan completed in our Single Handed TransPac (SHTP) aboard his CAL 40 Illusion with an elapsed time of 11:10:52:21. Stan still holds the corrected time course record for the SHTP.

AC45s COMING TO PRACTICE ON SAN FRANCISCO BAY!

Kimbal Livingston is a well known blogger for the San Francisco Bay sailing scene. He has confirmed that the America's Cup 45s are coming to practice in the San Francisco Bay as early as next month! This means that you'll be able to get an up close and personal look at these speed demons... now just imagine. . . almost double the size! This America's Cup stuff is going to be off the hook!
