Greetings!
It's February? How can this be? Sailing in shorts and a t-shirt is such a rare treat - let alone in February! While the rest of the country seems to be shoveling out, we have been having some of the best weather in years! We hope you're enjoying it as much as we are! We had such a wonderful time at the Coastal Passage Making party. Thanks to those of you who came out. It was so great to see everyone. With new exciting additions to our already incredible program (see below), like the upgraded tracking sheet, the new CPM graduate monthly dues charter rebate, and the new CPM Navigation Clinic, this should be a great year. We are looking forward to some exciting adventures out the Gate! |

QUESTION:
While preparing for your Coastal Passage Making voyage, you're trying to decide whether to head North or South once you head out the gate. What is the most important thing to take into consideration when making that decision?
ANSWER: Obviously when planning a coastal trip, there are multiple factors that you take into account. In Thomas' opinion, the most important thing to take into consideration is the weather. Providing conditions are not threatening, the best decision would be to go south if we have a high pressure system since the winds would be coming from the Northwest and go north if there's a low pressure system which means the winds are coming from the South or Southwest.

TODAY'S TIP - Turn your charter into the Love Boat for Valentine's Day! Studies have shown that a higher percentage of people prefer getting experiences than chocolates or roses. We say, don't hedge your bets, take them out for a sailing adventure and bring along the chocolates and the roses! We hope you have a very happy Valentine's Day!
Love, exciting and new
Come Aboard. We're expecting you.
Love, life's sweetest reward.
Let it flow, it floats back to you.

LEND A HAND TO BLUE WATER FOUNDATION
By: Dan Marshall
Hungry for more sailing but having trouble pulling together the dollars or the crew? Do you like kids? If you answered Yes, Yes, then the Blue Water Foundation may be the perfect supplement to your Club Nautique experiences. Blue Water takes at-risk and inner city kids sailing on the Bay. The objective is to increase their self esteem, expose them to adults in a non-authoritarian environment, and help them see fresh perspectives on life. Some of the great things about crewing for Blue Water are that you get to sail with terrific volunteers, on some hot boats, in arguably the best bay locations. At the same time, you need to understand that it's "for the kids", so you may sail all afternoon and never touch a line - in fact that's frequently the goal as a volunteer. Blue Water has a program to certify crew at various levels, but it's not really set up to instruct volunteers - Club Nautique is the place to go for instruction. My best Blue Water moment was when a kid with sagged pants said to me, "Dan, are we on the edge of the caution zone?"
