Greetings!
We are all human, and sometimes it's hard to focus on work. It's especially hard when you have a vacation on the horizon. As I type this there are visions of sun-kissed cheeks, azure blue water and rum drinks swirling through my head. My boss is talking to me about advertising planning, and I'm thinking about which bathing suit to pack... sorry Don.
One of the best parts of learning to sail is the fact that you now have the ability to go visit exotic places and do it on your own moving condo! You can get to places that people only visit in their dreams because you know how to sail. It's quite a wonderful realization. If you're REALLY motivated, you could get your captain's license and start plans to have people pay YOU to go on vacations like this. Now THAT sounds like a good plan. Join us Wednesday night for a FREE seminar to learn about getting your captain's license.

AMERICA'S CUP NEWS
Courtesy of NORCALSAILING.COM -
On Tuesday the City and County of San Francisco released the host city agreement for America's Cup 34. If you have an interest in the San Francisco waterfront from the Bay Bridge south to Pier 80 - a residence, workplace, property, boat or yacht club membership, it's worth your while to read the agreement carefully. It is so extremely thorough and detailed, that they've even taken into consideration what happens if a (new) war breaks out!

CAUGHT ON CAMERA
The following photos were sent to us by Angus Blackwood, President-elect of the US Navy League, San Francisco Council. On Friday, November 12th, there was a two-hour lighting of the original Fresnel Lens to celebrate the 138th birthday of the lighthouse at Pigeon Point on the South San Mateo County coast. The 1st order Fresnel lens surrounds the 1,000 watt lamp like a giant thimble with 24 facets. In normal operation the rotation of the lens causes the beams of light to sweep across the sky as the lens rotates once every 4 minutes. Last night, the USCG held the lens stationary (for photographers) for about 6 minutes before beginning rotation. The spikes of light were formed by the facets of the lens which looked like a giant diamond. The beams of light sweep the horizon and are visible 22 miles at sea. Thanks to Alan Grinber, Anthony Park and "Nocturnal Bob" for sharing these photographs.
