Greetings!
It's a tie between the Blue Angels and the weather for best performance of the weekend! Thanks to both it was one for the record books.
With Fleet Week in our wake we can set a course for some fun things on the horizon. If you care about baseball you're likely excited about the Giants! This Philly girl is set to buy a round of cheesesteaks for the office to cheer up my disappointed co-workers when my Phillies shut out the Giants. Just kidding . . . not really! ;-)
The RendezBoo is just around the corner. We currently have 18 boats scaring up some fun as we creep down the coast to Half Moon Bay! We have instructors, CPM graduates, members on their own boats - heck, we even have our fearless leader, Don, on his boat Eureka! While two-time champion and strong contender, Mike "the Knife" Susca, won't be in attendance (we'll miss you Mike!), the crew on Eureka! will be returning to protect their title as pumpkin carving champions. Yet, in the midnight hour, the faint sound of a dark horse sharpening its carving tools can be heard echoing through the thick San Francisco fog. [Cue the creepy Vincent Price laughter . . .]

TODAY'S TIP
Catch a ball game in McCovey Cove!
Treat yourself and your crew to a slice of history! Imagine sitting on a boat in McCovey cove as the San Francisco Giants clinch the 2010 National League Championship! Get one of our boats with a nice flat screen television so you can tune into the game. Watch replays on the big screen in the stadium and delight as the camera pans the boats in the cove and you and your crew are broadcast on national television! Go Giants! The first bunch is headed down the coast. We got a report that the first meal aboard was tri-tip, crab cakes and chocolate cake. They are definitely not going to starve on this trip!

NOGGIN BOGGLER!
Reply to this email with your answer to the following nautical Noggin-Boggler. There is no need to change the subject line, simply hit reply and send your answer. Club Nautique will choose the winner for this week's Boggler randomly from all of the correct entries. Please respond by noon on Monday, October 18th.
QUESTION: In honor of the Half Moon Bay RendezBoo, we're rerunning a previous boggler. Martin Tali, the winner of the original posting of this, will not be eligible to win. Sorry Martin!

To
provide guidance to the Club Nautique flotilla, the organizers of the
Half Moon Bay Rendezvous erected a beacon on the hillside
consisting of a 500 pound Jack O' Lantern illuminated with a 10 million
candlepower light, and named it The Great Pumpkin. This enormous Jack O'
Lantern was placed at 100 feet above sea level. If your height of eye
is 10 feet above sea level and the meteorological visibility is ten
nautical miles, as you are approaching the beacon, at what range will
the Great Pumpkin appear to rise above the pumpkin patch?
NOTE: This Noggin Boggler is a fabrication of the Club Nautique staff and is not intended for navigational purposes.
