Greetings!

Whatever kind of boater you are - whether you're just starting out or you're a seasoned salt- there comes a time when you take notice of the experience level of the crew you have on board. A cool moment for me in my sailing career was learning that I was a valuable member of the crew - that I actually brought something to the dinette, so to speak.

There is always more to learn, and while going out with non-boaters definitely helps improve your skills, sometimes there is an ease to knowing that you don't need to explain every aspect of what's going to happen. If you haven't already started building your crew list, come join us for our Charter Share mixer and party! You're bound to meet like-minded sailors that you'll be able to turn into reliable sailing partners; either seasoned salts who can't wait to show you the ropes, or some new folks looking to learn from your saltiness! See below for details!

Meanwhile, keep your eyes and ears open, keep constantly learning from all the levels of folks you have on board and enjoy the powerful gift of sailing that we've been given. It's a life empowering venture!

Todays TipTODAY'S TIP

Keep dodger covers in order when removing to help make putting them back on a snap!

When removing dodger covers, keep them in order from port to starboard (or vice versa). When you place them below, stow them on the side on which you took off the last cover. This way you'll be able to remember which side is on the top so that when you go to put them back on, you'll know which side to start with. It's a good idea to assign one person to this task, so make sure they'll be helping you put the boat away at the end of your sail.

Note: The Catamaran and some of the powerboats has significantly more window covers than the usual sailboat, try stowing the starboard covers on the starboard side and the port covers on the port side so you don't mix them up!

EXCITING NEWS FOR SAN FRANCISCO AND THE AMERICA'S CUP

It was announced last week that if the 34th America's Cup does indeed come to the U.S., it will definitely be hosted by San Francisco! There have only been two other times in the 159 year history of the America's Cup that it has been defended outside of the holder's home waters - at Valencia, Spain in 2007 and 2010.

We've got our fingers firmly crossed!

CORPORATE CORNER

Lithium Technologies Picture Fest puts Team Building in Focus!

WOW!  What a smashing success! Our Team Builder with Lithium Technologies was a great event. They started the day with a morning business meeting at the Alameda Clubhouse then did a "Photo Treasure Hunt" with three boats in the afternoon. We customized the event to address specific business issues for them and really got the message across.

This was the best corporate offsite team building event I have ever attended! I will definitely recommend it to others. Ingrid Stobb - Sr. Marketing Manager

This event took me out of my element and into an environment I had never participated in before. It really made me think about how and who I was working with, how we communicated and how we achieved our goals in a timely manner. I highly recommended this event. Paul Gilliaham - Director Customer Marketing

Want to get these results for your company? Call Dave Moore or Doug Perry and schedule a Corporate Team Builder soon. 510-865-4700

NOGGIN BOGGLER!
Reply to this email with your answer to the following nautical Noggin-Boggler. There is no need to change the subject line. Club Nautique will choose the winner for this week's Boggler by a jury of our staff. Please respond by noon on Monday, July 19th.

NAME THAT COLGATE!
We are excited to announce that we are welcoming one of our Colgates back into the fleet! The proud owner has given us, YOU, the unique opportunity to name her!

Do you have a great boat name you'd like to use?

The new owner is Mike Lewis, who is also the owner of our Alameda based Hunter 49, Belle Colette. Mike has asked that he get final say on the name before we paint it on her cabin sole, but he's sure he'll love what you come up with!

Mike doesn't need the boat to be named after him, his only criteria is that the name that we choose is "cool". Here are a few facts to get your creative juices flowing: he is a musician, he has twin boys and his wife is from Trinidad. That being said, he humbly suggests that we make it "about the boat", not him.

Happy naming!

This week's prize - WOW! A weekday charter on a Colgate!
Must be at least BK certified to redeem.

COASTAL PASSAGE MAKING CORNER

We had another successful Coastal Passage Making weekend.
Congratulations to our newest CPM graduates, Roddy Chishick and Rich Harty!
We'll see you guys down at Half Moon Bay!

Roddy gets a congratulatory hand shake from proud instructor, Thomas Perry

Rich poses for his graduate picture with his passing instructor,
Thomas Perry and School Director, Dave Scott.
Thanks to Tammy for capturing this proud moment!

The crew of Rapture may be the first of its kind, we're not sure, but it was certainly special! Captain Rich Harty and his crew all took Bareboat together back in September of 2008! We've really enjoyed the process of watching you all grow and look forward to more sailing adventures to come!

From left, Warren who proudly joined the alumni team for Rich's momentous tag along, Tammy, Dirk, Bill and Rich.

Jeff, Roddy and Dwayne hanging on The Edge before their trip out the Gate.

Bill (left) successfully passed his Jr. Navigator position and a hearty congratulations to Jim English for passing as Skipper! Just one more hurdle Jim and we'll be ready to urge you out of the nest!

Thanks to Thomas for this great capture of Rapture underway.

Practicing rafting and anchoring in Half Moon Bay.

Proud passing skipper, Dejan, poses with instructor, Thomas. Way to go Dejan!

One of our newest "Golden Backs!" this was Scott's first trip out the Gate. We think he may like it!

Neil checks the instruments.

Warm blooded Julie dons shorts, a t-shirt and open-toed sandals - she tells us that in comparison to New Hampshire, the weather here is tropical!
