Greetings!

We had so much fun at the American Armed Forces Cup the week before last, but this weekend is Memorial Day Weekend and it reminds us of the everyday sacrifices that service men and women are making for our country.

We came across this poignant montage that kinda says it all, we hope you enjoy it:
"The True Meaning of Memorial Day"

We will be taking advantage of the long weekend with a flotilla to the Delta. We've got just over 20 boats headed up river to celebrate the American lifestyle. Rest assured, we'll be raising a glass to toast the honorable men and women who put their lives on the line to defend our Country.

Todays TipTODAY'S TIP

Rafting up is a great way to enjoy time at anchor with friends from another boat. You can take a break, enjoy a community lunch, and share sea stories.

That being said, there are only a few places in San Francisco Bay where it is safe to raft up. You need to be well protected from wakes and waves so that your boats won't roll into each other and get damaged. Treasure Island's Clipper Cove is one such location. When you raft up, anchor the larger boat first, put out lots of fenders at rail height, and secure your boats with bow lines, stern lines and spring lines. Adjust the boats' positions so that the masts are staggered fore and aft as a further precaution against the rigs getting entangled should the boats roll into each other.

CHARTERBOAT OWNERSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Get Lucky!
Lucky G off of Ballena Bay during a Basic Powerboating Class

Have you been waiting for the right time to own a boat?  Your time may have arrived!

Club Nautique's 32' Nordic Tug, Lucky G, is for sale for the very attractive price of $240,000.  Club Nautique wants to keep the boat in the fleet so we are bringing this opportunity to the attention of all of our readers. Here are some reasons why this may be the time for you to buy a boat:
  1. Lucky G has some of the best charter performance of the entire Club Nautique fleet.
  2. Congress recently extended, through year's end, an increase in the Section 179 Tax Deduction to $250,000. This means that the full purchase price of the boat can be deducted from your taxes this year.
  3. Club Nautique is waiving its customary "charter placement fee".
  4. Even though Lucky G is a 2006 model year, it has been professionally maintained to the highest of standards for Club Nautique's charter use, so you can get a pre-owned boat while being confident that you won't encounter any surprises.
  5. Owning this boat will give you a place to stay or a yacht to use on the Bay in the most affordable way, ever.
Every one of Club Nautique's powerboating students start on this boat and they universally agree on what a great boat she is.

If you have ever given thought to purchasing a yacht but felt the timing or economy was not right to do so, let's discuss it.  Please direct any questions you may have to me personally.

CPM CORNER

Some of our Coastal Passage Making students embarked on a hearty adventure this past week. Two boats headed down the coast for a five-day trip. Both boats returned healthy and happy. The students looked blissfully exhausted with that "I learned some cool stuff" glimmer in their eyes.

Thanks for the photos, Claudia!

Neil, Patrick and Desley enjoy a calm transit under the Golden Gate.

Claudia gets into the action while Patrick steers and Instructor, Arnstein, keeps a watchful eye.

Don't try this at home! Martin prepares to set of a flare at sea.

Arnstein makes sure to keep the Coast Guard informed about the practice.

Dinner ashore in Monterey. What's that in your hand Neil? Did you win the lottery?
