Greetings!

"My mom is a never ending song in my heart of comfort, happiness, and being.  I may sometimes forget the words but I always remember the tune."
~Graycie Harmon

We'd like to extend a big "thank you" to all of the mothers out there for being our inspiration, our support system and our biggest cheerleaders. We recognize that motherhood is sometimes a thankless job, so for all of your unnoticed efforts, we applaud you! And for those who have passed on, we can still "remember the tune" of your lullaby.

Happy Mother's Day!

Todays TipTODAY'S TIP

The mother of all tips on a sailboat - keep clear of the boom!

We know it's a very basic tip, but it always bears mentioning. Maneuvers that cause the boom to move rapidly from one side of the boat to the other - such as tacking or jibing, or when the boom is not firmly controlled by the main sheet (like during man overboard drills or while raising the sails) be sure not to obstruct this movement with your head. It's been said that failure to do so can give one insight into the origins of the name "boom".

This little "boom bite" happened while taking down the main sheet during some shifty wind. Fortunately, his injury looks worse than it was.

CHARTERBOAT OWNERSHIP OPPORTUNITY

Get Lucky!
Lucky G off of Ballena Bay during a Basic Powerboating Class

Have you been waiting for the right time to own a boat?  Your time may have arrived!

Club Nautique's 32' Nordic Tug, Lucky G, is for sale for the very attractive price of $240,000.  Club Nautique wants to keep the boat in the fleet so we are bringing this opportunity to the attention of all of our readers. Here are some reasons why this may be the time for you to buy a boat:
  1. Lucky G has some of the best charter performance of the entire Club Nautique fleet.
  2. Congress recently extended, through year's end, an increase in the Section 179 Tax Deduction to $250,000. This means that the full purchase price of the boat can be deducted from your taxes this year.
  3. Club Nautique is waiving its customary "charter placement fee".
  4. Even though Lucky G is a 2006 model year, it has been professionally maintained to the highest of standards for Club Nautique's charter use, so you can get a pre-owned boat while being confident that you won't encounter any surprises.
  5. Owning this boat will give you a place to stay or a yacht to use on the Bay in the most affordable way, ever.
Every one of Club Nautique's powerboating students start on this boat and they universally agree on what a great boat she is.

If you have ever given thought to purchasing a yacht but felt the timing or economy was not right to do so, let's discuss it.  Please direct any questions you may have to me personally.
