Did you know that the Blue Angels fly approximately eighteen inches apart? Your arm is probably longer than eighteen inches! Their top speed is seven hundred miles per hour. That's seven, zero, zero! These are some of the best pilots in the world and they are performing their fearless flights of fancy for us in our playground - the San Francisco Bay.

Starting on Thursday, if you live in the Bay Area, you'll probably hear the roar of the powerful jets as they rip through our skies practicing for their performances on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This tops the list of things not to miss on the bay. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Today's Tip

Sailing TipFleet Week

This is one of the busiest weekends of the year on the bay. Club Nautique strongly recommends against anchoring to watch the shows. Instead, take turns at the helm so that everyone can watch. STAY ALERT AND KEEP A PROPER
LOOKOUT! Steer clear of the bow of any anchored vessels as you may get fouled in their anchor line.

And, as always, stay sober & stay safe!
Nautical Noggin-Boggler WINNER!

We selected our winner randomly from the correct answers submitted. Don't miss your chance to dazzle us with your knowledge and win a prize!

Congratulations to last week's winner:

JIM SADLER!

Winner of a bottle of Salt Water Shampoo.

QUESTION:
Tommy Tipper took Sally Smooth for a sail. "Wahoo!" shouted Tommy as they screamed through the Slot with the rail buried in the water and the spray flying. Meanwhile, Sally stayed silent. When Tommy asked Sally to go sailing with him the next week, Sally told him that she couldn't because she had to "wash her hair". Why did Sally choose that day to "wash her hair"?

ANSWER:

While there were some VERY clever responses to this boggler, Jim's was selected from the best answers provided. Thank you all for playing!

Tommy frightened Sally so much that her hair caught on fire and Sally had to wash the ashes of Tommy and his insensitive sailing right out of her hair.

Friday, October 16 - Sunday, October 18

Harvest some fun by joining us for our annual weekend rendezvous to the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival. Experience coastal cruising along with a whole pumpkin patch of other boats from Club Nautique and Cruising Yachts.

Throughout the weekend we enjoy the hospitality of the easy going folks at the Half Moon Bay Yacht Club. On Saturday, we take in the festival or enjoy local activities like hiking or kayaking. In the evening everyone whips up their best "Witches Brew" and cunningly carve their pumpkins to compete for prizes and bragging rights.

This is one of our favorite events of the year and it's sure to be one of yours!

We are putting together crews and skippers. Cost will depend on the boat and number of people on the charter.

Some coastal experience is preferred.

QUESTION:
What is the nickname of the mammoth transport aircraft that accompanies the Blue Angels on their air show demonstrations? It can take off within 1,500 feet, climb at a 45 degree angle, and propel itself to an altitude of 1,000 feet in approximately 15 seconds. Hint: It's named after a famous cartoon character.

This week's prize: A commemorative Blue Angels patch for your jacket, sea bag or scrap book.
