Not Just for Executives Any More
  • discussion

You are a busy senior manager with more than a few years of experience under your belt. You have been successful in your career and, for the most part, have been able to keep pace with the changes in your business and industry. Lately, however, you’ve begun to wonder if you are still on track for continued professional growth and success. Perhaps you’re feeling stagnate in your job, or even a little bored or dissatisfied. Or, maybe you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed by changes in your current role or business. Some of the most common scenarios that may suggest an opportunity for coaching include the following:

    • You have a new job at your current company or at a brand new company and need to hit the ground running
    • You are expected to play a key role in a new business/organizational initiative that could have a major impact on your career
    • You’ve recently received performance feedback that identifies opportunities for professional improvement
    • You have a new boss who expects more from you (even if you’re not totally sure about exactly what’s expected!)
    • You feel frustrated by the lack of cooperation or communication break-downs with others— the “people” issues that sap your energy and impact your results
    • You are talking about work issues with your spouse, family, friends, or colleagues so much that even YOU are getting tired of hearing it.
If any of this sounds familiar, you might be ready to consider working with an executive coach to help you get better traction in your current role or to get in professional shape for your next position.

Coaching is becoming the premier choice for time- challenged executives and managers as a vehicle for fine tuning business and leadership skills. Very often, a positive coaching experience can help re-generate positive career momentum and better results in meeting the day-to-day challenges of work and life.

  • Improving Communication and Reducing Conflict
  • The velocity and scope of organizational change has presented workers with some exciting opportunities and challenges for continuous growth and learning. New technologies, mergers and acquisitions, quality improvement, customer focus, and other change initiatives require employees to work in a flexible collaborative manner. Inevitably conflicts will arise as people focus on implementing the desired changes.

Some of our most frequently requested training programs relate to improving interpersonal communication and workplace collaboration. Whether we are working with customer service providers, sales professionals, management or staff, our instructional designers and trainers have found it highly effective to incorporate learning instruments as part of the skill building process. Self-assessment tools help learners to identify their own natural communication style and enable them to recognize the styles and preferences of others. By becoming more aware of how everyone contributes to the communication dynamics, individuals can learn to flex their styles to collaborate more effectively with others.

One of the learning instruments that we recommend to our clients is DiSC® Classic. With 30 years of proven reliability and over 40 million users, DiSC® Classic remains one of the most trusted learning instruments in the industry. It is used worldwide in dozens of training and coaching applications, including organizational development and performance improvement. Designed to complement and supplement existing training programs, DiSC® Classic provides valuable information and insight to help individuals improve communication, ease frustration and conflict, and develop effective managers and teams. The DiSC® Classic assessment tool is available on paper or online to give you maximum flexibility in terms of administration. Our trainers often have participants complete the assessment before the training session so we can hit the deck running when everyone comes to the workshop.

Self-Understanding is the Basis for Achieving Behavioral Change

DiSC® dimensions of behavior provide a non- judgmental language for exploring behavioral issues across four primary dimensions:

    • Dominance: Direct and Decisive. D’s are strong- willed, strong-minded people who like accepting challenges, taking action, and getting immediate results.
    • Influence: Optimistic and Outgoing. i’s are “people people” who like participating on teams, sharing ideas, and energizing and entertaining others.
    • Steadiness: Sympathetic and Cooperative. S’s are helpful people who like working behind the scenes, performing in consistent and predictable ways, and being good listeners.
    • Conscientiousness: Concerned and Correct. C’s are sticklers for quality and like planning ahead, employing systematic approaches, and checking and re-checking for accuracy.
The skillful, conscious blend of all of these styles will help your managers and employees work more effectively together to achieve desired organizational change.

As a distributor of DiSC® products, we are ready to help you incorporate this powerful, proven tool into your tool kit. If you are interested in exploring the use of DiSC® Classic for your training and development needs, please see our special offer below.
