A Garden Romance - Name the Children
Iron parents Sam and Rosemary came to the school in 2002 and 2003 respectively. Since Sam's proposal in the Sunflower garden, their garden romance has blossomed into marriage and the delivery of four children -a twin boy and girl followed by two younger girls.  Rosemary & Sam Gardener are wonderful parents with clad iron morals who just have one problem - they haven't decided upon names for their children!  We are seeking names for the three daughters and one son and invite community members to submit suggestions to schoolgarden@fuse.net.  One lucky winner will be drawn from all of the entries we receive through June 15, and will receive a duplicate iron figure.
June 22- 26, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  - A hands-on gardening, harvesting and cooking camp for children.  Campers harvest and prepare herbs and vegetables, exploring different dishes and ingredients.  They learn kitchen skills to prepare a sit-down meal to share.  Nutrition is built into this camp using all of the wide variety of organic veggies and herbs in Granny's Garden.  $125 per child with family discounts available.
Training and hands-on experience to develop a plant-based environmental education program.  June 22 - June 26, 2009, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  The week-long camp focuses on low-cost methods for establishing a program at your school and how to integrate the garden with your classroom curriculum. This outdoor camp is packed full of hands-on activities.  Spend the week with our staff and volunteers and learn from their experience.  The $200 registration fee includes lunch and lots of goodies, i.e. seeds, plants, lesson plans and floral and herb bouquets.
For a donation of $35 you may pick ten bouquets of up to 24 stems from Granny's Gardens.  The program is available June through October and includes flowers and herbs.  You may pick everything except sunflowers at any time that is convenient to you except during school hours.  You will receive a Pick-a-Bouquet Club membership card. It makes a great gift and is a great way to recognize a special employee or say "Thank you."
