Granny's Garden School
Teaching in the gardens
It was a huge success!  The final total is not in but it looks like we raised about $10,000 for the garden program. Thanks to all of the wonder volunteers that came to help and the shoppers that supported our efforts.

We know there are many things we can do to improve the sale and are already putting together a committee to work on next year's sale.  Let us know if you would like to participate.  If you are on the committee or not, we welcome your feedback and suggestions.
We are sharing some of our irises
The gardens are really beginning to pop.  The bulbs are fading but the irises are just coming into their own. We have tall bearded in a variety of colors and Siberian iris in purple and yellow.  They do not all bloom at once.  Right now we have purple, peach and a burgundy blend. We do not label the different varieties so you have to catch them while they are blooming   Dolly, one of our garden assistants, works in the gardens ever evening Monday-Thursday, 6:30-8:30 and Saturday 9-noon.  She will be happy to dig up your selection.  You will receive one rhizome with a $5 donation or five for $20. Please be prepared, Dolly will not have change with her.  We are also offering our surplus canna lilies for the same amount.  They are they tall red flowers that bloom each year in front of the primary school.  They are great for bouquets and attract humming birds.

Even if you are not in the market to buy, come down to see the beautiful things growing in our gardens this spring.

Recycle your pots and flats at Granny's Garden School.

We will accept all single plastic pots, trays and plant labels.  We do not accept 3/4/6 cell packs.
Confusion about baskets.
At the plant sale, we provided some of the donated baskets that were too large for the children to make theme gardens for customers to carry plants while they shopped.

Some volunteers thought we were giving the baskets away. Half of the baskets were gone before we realized it. So, we are still seeking more baskets for many purposes, including for harvesting.

Join us in the gardens for hand on learning!
The best way to learn about gardening is by working alongside of an experienced gardener.  You are invited to join us in the gardens Monday-Thursday evenings, 6:30-8:30 and Saturday 9 a.m. to noon.

At this time of the year, we focus on planting flowers and flower seeds. You never go home empty handed when you volunteer in Granny's Gardens.
