Granny's Spring Garden Party and Plant Sale

If you are looking for herbs, we will have a large variety at the plant sale May 1-3.  A few are highlighted here.

A must try herb is stevia.
Stevia is 300 times sweeter than sugar.   Rita Heikenfeld introduced stevia to our gardens and has loads of information and recipes on her website.

We have some beautiful young Rosemary plants.  Rosemary is not hearty in our area but it is easily wintered over indoors.

Basil is at the top of the list for most people.  We have 6-8 varieties from large leaf to tiny leafed Greek basil, purple, spicy globe, Thai,  lemon lime and Genovese, of course.  We use basil in bouquets as well as cooking.

This year, for the first time, we also have garden sorrel.  We started the plants from seed last fall at the request of one of our volunteers, Brigitte Cordier, a native of France.  It's a perennial herb that was popular way back when but fell out of style for years - except among the French.  This article is full of ideas for using the herb.

We also have curry, germander, sage, five kinds each of mint, lavender and rosemary, plus  tarragon, thyme, chamomile, fennel, dill, marjoram, lemon verbena, parsley, oregano and more.
