Self-Employed Medical Insurance Tax Credit | |
On Monday, September 27, the Small Business Jobs and Credit Act of 2010 was signed. Until then, self-employed were not privy to the equivalent tax benefit relating to medical insurance costs. Now, the self-insured can take a 1-year tax (2010 taxes) deduction for medical insurance costs in determining self-employment tax. To qualify, you must:
1) File a Schedule C, S or F showing income that is earned
2) File a Schedule SE and pay the self-employment tax
3) Pay for family or individual medical health insurance coverage in 2010.

Eligible candidates must attend at least one of the following workshops by February 1, 2011; "Starting A Small Business In Illinois," Understanding Your Business Finances," "How To Write A Business Plan," or "Boot Camp - CORE Four Business Planning Course."
