Women's History Month Presentation

March 19, 1 p.m.Mary Bensell

North Lincoln County Historical Museum

March is Women's History Month!

Join us for Discovering Mary Through Research and Imagination presented by Diane Disse, who recently authored an historical novel about Mary Bensell's life - The Edge.

Mary Bensell is notable in the early settlement of what is now Lincoln County. She was the first white woman to live in the area. Mary was an abused woman, divorcing the man she came to the area with. She then married an important figure in the continuing settlement around Yaquina Bay.

Disse will speak about Mary Bensell's life as well as the process of writing about her through research and an informed imagination. She will also discuss the role of personal experience in writing and the wide variety of traditional sources available in addition to the Internet.

Museum hours:

Wednesday through Saturday, 12 - 5 p.m.

Free admission in 2011!
