In time for buying season, rates hit yearly lows |
 Spread the word to your buyers: interest rates sank lower last week, which means their purchasing power just got a little better.
The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage, a popular choice among buyers, is now at 4.71 percent, matching its yearly low from January, reported Freddie Mac in its weekly mortgage market survey. Last year at this time, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 5 percent.

Homeowners to Congress: Leave MID Alone |
More than half - 53 percent - of homeowners recently surveyed say they want Congress to leave the federal tax credit for homeowners alone, according to a recent opinion poll at HousingPredictor.com. Those surveyed also say they want Congress to instead focus its efforts on instituting other tax advantages to stimulate the real estate market.
Some congressional leaders have raised the issue of trimming the MID as a way to increase federal taxes and alleviate the ongoing budget crisis. NAR has strongly opposed any cut to the MID and has lobbied Congress to protect it. For the latest, go here. |
