Has Housing Reached a 'Recovery Path'?

Housing recoverySales of existing homes rose slightly in March, marking the sixth consecutive monthly rise for existing home sales in the last eight months, the National Association of REALTORSŪ reported last week.

"We're clearly on a recovery path," says Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist. Existing home sales rose 3.7 percent in March from February, as distressed sales, such as those in foreclosure, continued to make up a big bulk of home sales (40 percent of all purchases).

Questionable emails

KCRAR members have noticed a recent explosion in spam email that solicits experienced real estate assistance for buyers or sellers from foreign countries. These emails sometimes claim that email addresses have been obtained from REALTORŪ Association websites or otherwise mention the Association in the subject and body of the message.

Although this type of thing has been around for a while, we want to reiterate that KCRAR has a policy prohibiting the distribution of member email addresses. The best way to handle these questionable solicitations is to simply delete the email without responding to it.

2 Rules for Real Estate's 'New Normal'

Don't waste time or energy hoping real estate will go back to being the way it was. Instead, accept the realities of the current market and make yourself better.

We're well into 2011, and all of the pining for the market to go "back to normal" seems to be over at last. For those of us who are in real estate for the long haul, the issue is how to deal with "the new normal." The faster that owners, brokers, real estate pros, sellers, and buyers recognize that we are in a fundamentally different environment, the more sales and production will be done by all.
