Resolution Protecting Mortgage Interest Deduction Introduced |
|
U.S. Rep. Gary Miller (R-Calif.), along with five other cosponsors, has introduced House Resolution 25, which expresses the "sense of the Congress that the current Federal income tax deduction for interest paid on debt secured by a first or second home should not be further restricted." Miller has sent a "Dear Colleague" letter asking other Representatives to cosponsor the resolution.
NAR will be working with Miller's office to seek additional cosponsors by visiting every House member's office to present the dear colleague letter as well as a letter from NAR requesting additional cosponsors. |

Annual registration of Kansas City rental properties due |
All owners of rental dwellings located in Kansas City, Mo. must renew or establish registration of their rental properties with the city's Neighborhood and Community Services Department for 2011 before Feb 1.
Owners can register rental properties through Jan. 31 without incurring a registration fee. However, failure to register a rental dwelling before Feb. 1 will result in the issuance of an administrative citation fine of $50. For each month (or portion thereof) that a rental dwelling is not registered, an additional $50 fee will be assessed. For example, a rental property not registered until August will be assessed a fine of $350. Registration is required on a calendar-year basis and expires each Dec. 31.
Online registration is available at http://www.kcmo.org/neigh. Registrations forms also are available online that can be downloaded and submitted by mail or in person.
