A nonprofit organization dedicated to all who share the Chesapeake watershed environment.

Greetings!

August gardens overflow with abundance and it is time to remember the joys of living a simple life.

I have come to terms with the future.

From this day onward I will walk easy on the earth.

Plant trees. Kill no living things.

Live in harmony with all creatures.

I will restore the earth where I am.

Use no more of its resources than I need.

And listen, listen to what it is telling me.

To learn more about the health and status of the Chesapeake Bay, here's a recent article by the Washington Post regarding the

Alarming 'dead zone' grows in the Chesapeake

In knowing this information, the question of "What do we do?" arises. If you have thoughts, answers, or more questions, CHEARS would like to hear them.

The Calvert Marine Museum is heading up the development of the Chestory Archive of Regional Story and Song.  We have received funding for a one year paid, full time intern through the Chesapeake Conservation Corp.  We are pleased to welcome Concetta Laskey to the Chears/Chestory family. She will be located in Solomon's, MD to assist with organizing the Chestory Archive for six months starting this fall.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase on the Chestory website in September.

Michael and Kathy Glaser and Teresa Whitaker are working with Jim Fox of Fox Lion Recording Studio to publish a children's songbook of Tom's music with an accompanying CD. This will be completed in the spring of 2012.

The traveling art exhibit "The Art of Healing the Chesapeake - A Tribute to Tom Wisner" consists of Tom's own art work and his children's collages - make by the children he taught as an environmental educator mostly in Southern, MD.  For information about bringing this exhibit to a location near you, contact chestory@gmail.com.
