Greetings!

Last Wednesday, a record number of tornadoes devastated the southeast. North Georgia was hit especially hard, with severe damage done to Northern Bartow and Floyd Counties. Miraculously, not a single life was lost in Bartow, a gift of mercy for which we praise God. However, many homes were partially or completely destroyed, and many of our friends and neighbors are suffering. America has a long history of quick response in times of crisis, with family, friends, neighbors, churches and communities coming together to help one another. As we see those in need, our conscience demands that we step forward to help alleviate that suffering in whatever way we are able.

There are several organizations in place throughout the county that are collecting food, supplies, clothing and other needed items. Others are helping with the clean-up of damaged homes. Each of us can find a way to assist in the effort. As chairman of the Bartow County Republican Party, and on behalf of our Executive Committee, I encourage you to contact one of the following organizations and donate time, money or goods to help in the relief effort. At a time like this there are no Republicans and Democrats, no racial or religious divides, only God's children in need. Thank you for your willingness to help, and may God bless each of us in these efforts.

National Day of Prayer in Cartersville, GA

There will be two prayer events this year:

1) 12:00 PM at the Courthouse. Ministers are asked to gather at 11:00 AM, at the annex (the old Cartersville First Baptist Church) and unify in prayer. The noon emphasis will be on uniformed public servants (law enforcement, fire fighters, etc.)

2) 7:00 PM at the Cartersville High School Stadium. The evening theme will be "I Am Second" (because Jesus is first). The highlight will be what God is doing among the teenagers in our area. This will be a special sacred assembly of God's people crying out to Him.
