Greetings!
Today is President's Day and after over 230 years of our nation we have inaugurated our 44th President of the United States of America. We have had some great presidents and some horrible ones, but one thing is for sure, we still live in the greatest nation in the world. The past few weeks, President Obama and the Democrat Congress have virtually turned this country's course in a totally different direction than what our Founding Fathers had intended. One cannot say that we were not heading in that direction already, but now we as country have finally crossed the line towards socialism. It is not too late to turn it back, but it is going to take a lot of work as many people in the United States don't even understand what has happened. I recently had a conversation with a person and they were shocked that I was not a Barack Obama supporter. When I explained that his policies were socialistic, the question to me was, "What is socialism?" This person is not alone and well old enough that they should know what socialism is, but it is a sure sign of the uneducated population we have in the United States on the true history of our nation and the history of the world. Our current president campaigned on "Change"; unfortunately, we are not getting change but rather the old Clinton administration, Franklin Roosevelt's policies that deepened and prolonged the Great Depression, and the same old tactics of Washington politics. Come join us Saturday, February 28, 2009, at 9:00 AM at Slope's BBQ for our monthly meeting. Our guest speaker this month is Bartow County Commissioner Clarence Brown. |

What can we do in Georgia?
The stimulus/porkulus bill has passed congress and President Barack Obama will sign it into law tomorrow. Our U.S. Senators Isakson and Chambliss and Congressman Gingrey all voted against it. We can't stop it from being signed, but we can attempt to convince our state government to abstain from participating in this horrible bill. With all the money that is coming to Georgia (an estimated $6 billion currently) there are many strings attached, and the monies are earmarked for very specific projects that cannot be diverted to something that may actually help. In other words, if Georgia accepts the money, we will even be more beholden to the federal government. It is time for Georgia to stand up and lead the nation and tell the federal government to keep the money and the mandates. You can do so by contacting your representative and the leadership of the state government.
Govenor Sonny Perdue

Wanted: 3 Conservatives to run for US Senate
Last week, three Republican U.S. Senators crossed the line and voted to help ruin this country. Senators Arlen Specter (PA-2010), Olympia Snowe (ME-2012), and Susan Collins (ME-2014) were the only three Republicans who voted for the stimulus/porkulus bill. They claim they negotiated some bad stuff out, but then in conference committee many if not all of the items removed were put back in. It is time for them to go home and for Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to stand up and lead the way. You can contact Senator McConnell's office to let him know your thoughts on his leadership on this issue.

Convention Time On February 7, 2009 the Precinct Mass Meetings were held at Slope's BBQ. We had a great turnout and the next step in the process is our County Convention to be held March 14, 2009 at the Adairsville Church of God. There are officially 194 delegates to the county convention. Official letters will be sent to those delegates next week. For more information about the convention, please visit BartowGOP.com. At the convention, we will have various speakers, with one of our most notable currently scheduled being U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson. I am sure he will have much to say about what is happening in Washington, D.C. Guests are welcome, but may not vote or comment on any of the items presented at the convention as that is permitted only for the official delegates to the convention.
