Greetings!
The Olympics are half over and what a performance by Michael Phelps with a record 8 gold medals in a single Olympic Games. What a great moment to be proud to be an American.
At the same time that the Olympics have been going on, Russia has invaded the country of Georgia. A cease fire agreement has supposedly been signed but Russian troops will remain in Georgia and control a major pipe line.
This Saturday, August 23rd will be our regular monthly meeting. Please join us this Saturday as we discuss the upcoming campaigns and how one can help Republicans gain victory. We will also be talking about the Senate "Gang of Ten" and their recent energy proposal and what the House is doing. Please join us at the Bartow County Republican Headquarters at 9:00 AM this Saturday, August 23rd. |

The Gang of 10
In the past couple of weeks there has been a lot happening in Washington D.C. involving many Georgians. On the House side, our own Congressman Phil Gingrey has been one of many congressmen staying in Washington to try and bring a vote on the "All of the Above" plan concerning our energy crisis.
On the Senate side, our own two Senators, Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss, have joined three other Republican and five Democrat Senators with a bipartisan plan. This plan will allow South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Georgia to allow drilling 50 miles off their coasts. It would also raise taxes on the oil companies. There are many more details involved in this proposed plan that you can find at Johnny Isakson's web site and the Wall Street Journal.
I urge you to read up on what Congressman Gingrey, Sen. Isakson, and Sen. Chambliss are doing, and contact them with your opinion on these energy proposals. |
