Greetings!

January of 2008 has started off with a bang politically here in Georgia and the Nation.  The Georgia House of Representatives overrode 12 vetoes by the Governor and the State Senate has only taken up one of those overides.  This has led one representative to begin impeachment proceedings against Lt. Governor Casey Cagle.  Nationally, we are in the middle of the Presidential Primary season with Super Tuesday tomorrow.  Georgia will play a big role with 72 delegates on the line.

Our first monthly meeting of the year was great with Representative Barry Loudermilk as our main speaker, speaking mainly about voting for principles and using the documents of the Bible, U.S. Constitution, Declaration of Independence and the Georgia Constitution as a guide.  Please join us this month at our Precinct Mass Meeting to be held on February 16th at the County Courthouse and February 23rd for our monthly meeting at Ryan's.  For more information, please visit BartowGOP.com.

General Assembly
Tom Graves Last Friday Bartow Representative Tom Graves was stripped of his position as Hawk and his office was moved from the Capitol to the LOB after he voted his principles in opposition to Speaker Glenn Richardson.  Graves was quoted in Insider Advantage saying, "I vote my conscience and my constituents and my principles before any position. The day I cease to do that, I don't need to be in the Capitol anymore. I don't regret my decision."  The Bartow County Republican Party commends Representative Tom Graves for putting principles above party and will support him as he fights for the principles of Bartow County.

Presidential Primary Tomorrow
Main Elephant The Presidential Primary for Georgia is tomorrow.  Please don't forget to go vote.  On the line are 72 delegates.  Three of those delegates will be decided by how the 11th Congressional Distritict votes.  Georgia is not a winner take all like Florida, so the delegate count could be spread out between each of the candidates.  The main four presidential candidates still running are Mike Huckabee, John McCain, Ron Paul, and Mitt Romney.  You may visite BartowGOP.com to be linked to each of the candidates web sites.  Election will definitely be the highlight of 2008.
Thank you for all your support and I hope to see you at our regular monthly meetings to be held every 4th Saturday of the month.  Our next meeting will be February 23rd at Ryan's on Joe Frank Harris Pkwy in Cartersville.  Also, get involved in the convention process by coming to the Precinct Mass Meeting on February 16th at the County Courthouse.
Sincerely,

Michael W. Huneke II, Chairman
Bartow County Republican Party
